One thing I have noticed is that the veterans in British, Canadian and Anzac parades are always appropriately dressed and march as they were trained, in a military formation. I would like to see that kind of pride and professionalism when US veterans march.

True heroes they fought like mother tigers defending their young. They will be remembered forever as heirs to the Spartans at Thermopilae.

@@joaquinarmendariz676 They said the same thing about the Chindits. Anyone who whacked them, by their thinking, had to be the best. They just couldn’t believe anything else. Arrogant b*s*a*d*. But without doubt the Anzacs are right up there with the cream of the crop.

Good to know, Skippy :) I noticed that it's right hand drive (I think, as far as I can see) in my video. But, I'm supposing that the US Military would have brought over left hand drive vehicles in WW2.

Here in the United States, our parades are led by splendid horses carrying riders in full regalia -- A NZ friend explained to me that the ANZAC parades are led by one or two riderless horses representing the actual utility animals that survived wartime service. Only one or two out of thousands!
@katherinestuart1342 Жыл бұрын
Yes, Beth, I would not be surprised. There is a famous story here, about a WW1 soldier and his horse, who were part of the "ambulance" service, going into the battle to save wounded soldiers. The Australians and New Zealanders are very big on being the underdog and rising up under adversity, so no fancy spectacle here.

The old Studebaker looking like new. There should be some good ones of those around. Rumour was Australia kept thousands of them sprayed in grease brand new for decades after WW2 was finished. All we ever got in the early 70s in the Reserves. Studebakers. No way they were 25 years old. A nightmare for new drivers if they had to supply an annual camp via a steep dirt range road. Useless brakes and with an old crash box. Miss a gear on the way down and there was no stopping. We had about 6 of them wrecked one camp. Rumours spread. Nobody hurt seriously. After the first one went over the side they realised the best way to stop them was to crash them into the side embankment. Not go over the side. When we went home we were all very nervous but the driver did a great job. Never missed a gear as we creeped down that rough mountain road. Those 20 something new drivers had a baptism of fire. I bet they will never forget it. They must have been a shit to drive until you got used to them. Useless brakes and a crash box. The only time I was happy to be in the Reserve Infantry and not Transport.
Nice parade and thank you for posting. I would have included a second band.

Marching withot Music? The Irish defense force is beter than them! 😀😀😀😀
Its just wierd, the men were drafted mind you not volunteered , any way most of them, then they were sent to Vietnam to fight and die and get wounded , when they came back the people who did not go looked down upon the men who did go to fight, the fault was with the Australian Government for wrongly joining the Vietnamese civil war, not the soldiers
