I have reacted to this song before but Koji Tamaki has changed over the years. I really love this song and the young Tamaki with a beard is so stunning! Such a wonderful combo:)
Yes, stunning is correct, particularly with the beard! I grew up in Japan in the 60s & 70s, and continued to go back for school holidays after I moved to the US in the early 80s for university. And I even worked there for 6 months in 1985, but somehow, I missed the rise of Anzenchitai and and the chance to fall in love with Tamaki Koji in his youth before I moved back to the US permanently. I first heard of him only this year after Dimash Kudaibergen’s Japanese-language rendition of Ikanaide, so I watched Tamaki’s live orchestral performance of Ikanaide and was absolutely so moved that I started researching the man to learn more about him and found out about his association with the group Anzenchitai. Even then, I could not believe that this stunning young man was the same person as the mature gentleman that Tamaki has become, until I saw his teeth, which are still the same to this day and proved to me that they are indeed the same person. He was a great singer in his youth, and as he matured, his voice has become so rich, and he has an absolutely heart-wrenching belt which he uses to perfection. I’m even thinking about taking a trip to Japan to catch one of his live performances in the near future.

@Kawayo9 Ahai you are not the only one! Growing up in Japan, I have fallen in love with many a Japanese pop star in the day, but never this hard! If only I had known about him in the late 80s and onward, I could’ve caught a live concert or two very easily, because I worked for an international airline until the mid-2000s, and was visiting Japan several times a year. But we can’t go around lamenting the past, so I will look to the future, and maybe the stars will line up that I will be be able to catch a live performance in the future before either one of us gets too old (he is 3 years older than I am).
