If your fox body has an AOD transmission, you need to inspect this bushing. If it's bad, it can not only affect your shift pressures and shift points, but it can also burn up the overdrive band in your transmission!

Bad camera work? its looks great man,couldn't get any closer and clearer,from what Ive always heard when they set these cables at the factory back in the day they just popped the clip on the cable ( not the cotter or c clip) but the little white tab that holds the adjustment in place and slid it until it matched the throttle body hole at idle and just snapped it in thereby closing the clip and holding the adjustment, that will put the cable in "neutral" ,if one desires firmer shifts you just pull the little tab back out and pull on the cable a hair, the more you pull the firmer the shift but you cant go wild on it, just a bit. Then there is the proper way to adjust it with a gauge and all kinds of tools like that , kinda like just putting a cam in a engine or having the cam degreed,the normal way will be fine but getting it degreed I'm sure will get you a few more horses etc,i recently put a new engine in my 91 Mustang and I'm having a issue which i call the "thrust reverser issue" , ever been on a airplane and when you land you feel that whoooooshh when they turn the reversers on? thats what my car is doing when I'm driving around 45 or so and i go to stop,i have had this issue before but i cant remember how i fixed it,been several years. I think when i put the new engine i disturbed a bracket or something and i thnink my tranny is not shifting down when it should hence the reverser feeling, the tranny itself is great and shifts very smooth, its just when I'm going to stop that the problem happens.

I put a new brass bushing in from lmr can I set it to WOT? And lock it in?
@dragradialperformance3540 Жыл бұрын
No, you have to follow the instructions on how to adjust that cable VERY carefully and do it right, or you can burn up the transmission. Especially if it's shifting too soft.

Did you ever make a video showing how to adjust this? I supposedly had mine adjusted at a shop, now my car revs really high before shifting, & sometimes delays. Could the shop have pulled it too tight? Thanks in advance..
@dragradialperformance35405 жыл бұрын
I have not made an adjustment video yet, sorry. I'm sure there's plenty of adjustment videos out there though. This cable's position tells the transmission how much throttle you're giving the engine, and the transmission reacts to that by increasing the shift pressure and shift RPM as you increase the throttle position. If this adjustment isn't right, you could either shift too early and soft or too late and firm. You can also damage the transmission eventually, so work hard at getting this adjusted right!

@@dragradialperformance3540 Thanks.. It shifts great at lower speeds, but from around 30 -50 mph, it sounds like it's straining, & the RPMs are extremely high, & it jerks into get gear finally.. Stressful..

@@dee1380 Study up, especially from transmission shops, on how to adjust it right and do it! It's a pretty simple process, once you figure out how to loosen the latching mechanism on the cable correctly.

Thank u so much it was very helpful. Please upload the Upcoming video about adjusting the TV cable as soon as possible im having some issues with my Foxbody it Overshifts and there is a delay when hitting the Throttle😩. Thank again 🌸

The TV cable adjustment video is probably not coming very soon. I would suggest googling it, and look for a transmission shop that gives a good detailed procedure. It's not hard. But what is difficult is understanding how you release the cable adjuster initially. It's not what you would think by just looking at it.

I don't know if you can buy these from Ford anymore or not. You'll have to check.

Sir, I know you have answered my questions in your TFI videos, but I happened to find this excellent one too. This is the type of thing that is nice to see if and when I may encounter such an issue I have yet to run across. Also, If I may ask, what is your first name so I can converse in a more brother to brother way of addressing you? Thanks, Mark

I'm glad you liked it. It's short, but useful. My name is Steve.

Drag Radial Performance Thank you very much, Steve. And thank you for all your other help so far. Believe it or not, I had a related AOD issue on the other end of this spectrum. If my memory is right since nearly a decade since I made the fix on my Mustang, the connection at the linkage in the shifter to transmission was a weak area ( plastic bushing type failure) and somehow I modified it with a home fix of bolts and some other ingenuity that I made up myself in a failure proof improvement.

Mark Laschinsky they make steel AOD TV Cable bushings now, like the one shown in this video. They're relatively inexpensive and simple. Just a steel bushing and a cotter pin.

Mark, I just uploaded a video on TFI coil testing, and will be rolling out several new TFI diagnostic videos in the coming days. Stay tuned!

Thank you, Steve. I just checked my coil with a meter and the resistance was in spec, COLD. I need to check it warm and see if it is out of spec. I am also working my way to the ICM on the Fender, and the PIP/SPOUT and to examine for broken wires etc. SO far every component I check along the prescribed sequence has been within spec. One area I have not taken a reading on yet is fuel pressure(s) and current specs on the O2 sensors. I do get the apparent desired effect with the EGR when I apply vac to it, but I am sure it could benefit from cleaning and a visual inspection as well. Granted I am talking about a 5.0 F150 but there are enough similar parts, that a solution can be found on Fox Body Mustang tips like here too.

The bushing can be replaced with a new plastic one, or they have solid metal upgrades that would never wear out. They have to go in from the right direction, which I believe is from the bottom on a Fox. Once the new bushing is installed, there is a TV cable adjustment procedure that is critical to perform correctly.
