Thanks for the info. It was sad to see how limited the visuals for Dark Ranger hero talents are when you were sharing the training dummy with the fire mage! Maybe find a less busy dummy next time so we can see some of the effects.

For real! It's been really crazy to see all these spell effects popping off in the background of my beta videos when I'm putting them together. Shoutout to Elemental Shaman, Destro Warlock and Fire Mage.. those visuals are looking good :) There's literally 2 sets of dummies I can use and they're both constantly busy. I wish blizzard would just allow you to have your own set of dummies without others hitting them, that were scaled to the current level.

Thanks for the video! I would be interested in knowing the damage difference of Bulletstorm versus Fan the Hammer. I would guess it to be negligible in AoE as the use of Multi-Shot is higher. That one point becomes expensive with either the two talents mentioned above or the 'Ammo' selection. Maybe Light Ammo with Bulletstorm and Heavy Ammo with Fan the Hammer. What I don't like is the addition of a focus spender with Dark Ranger. While Hero talents should be fun an interesting to choose, they should have been largely thematic. They should have augmented our current abilities within a theme (like changing the animation of Aimed Shot to a Sylvanas-like shadow arrow when it proc'd).

Hey, thanks for watching! We have a lot of 1/2 point abilities that are exactly what you just said.. expensive. We have a lot of honestly wasted points in the trees. Some abilities should be combined. Some should be baked into the ability. That's a great call out with the Ammo pick. I wouldn't normally pick heavy ammo in M+ (other than tyrannical brackenhide from DF for example) so that extra point would either be in ammo if my group was going to pull effectively to make it worth picking, or in fan the hammer. They could just take FtH out and make it 10 shots baseline, that would give us more focus regen in our builds. I also agree with your take on the Dark Ranger ability, Black Arrow. It is odd that Sentinel is completely passive, yet DR has an active ability. I know that people complained that most of the hero trees were passive, but I felt much more focus starved with DR than Sentinel. Maybe Aimed Shot becomes Wailing Arrow baseline and when you hit a target WA, it puts Black Arrow on the target. They would have to be tuned appropriately, but that would always allow you to play with your most flavor ability on a Dark Ranger MM Hunter.

Dark ranger will end up being the SINGLE target hero talents for RAID BOSS and Sentinel will be AOE M+

@TheArcain626 it's going to need to help with focus regen then, because it's great with all the extra aimed shots, but no focus to spend them.

How will you determine now whether you got a LocknLoad proc or the Hero Talent proc? Like I can imagine myself running and trying to fire that instant LocknLoad Aimed Shot but it won't be the other proc so nothing happening lol

The best way you can tell the difference is by running a WA tracking either buff that the proc provides. I get it though, it's extremely confusing that they both us light up the same way. I currently don't like the way precise shot procs don't light up. I'm hoping that's just a beta thing. That's a great call out.

Most likely re rolling from rogue to hunter. I don’t prefer to only stay within melee range but survival worth and any fun? If I even swapped to hunter I got no problem playing MM too. Don’t enjoy BM

Survival is not my cup of tea, but they got a lot of great changes in the pre-patch and more in TWW proper. I'm personally really enjoying MM in the pre-patch, but I'm also going to play it regardless, so I'm biased. I would say try them both out and see which you like the best.

Thinking about picking hunter main, since tanks and healers are going to have a hard time now with all those changes. This work for leveling up and whatnot?

So as you're leveling, you won't have all your talents so there's some power creep that has to happen. You won't get your hero talents until 71+, but Sentinel is still the way to go and would help with leveling as it's all passive damage.

The easiest way to fix black arrow is to incrase its uptime to 100% first of all. Id suggest a 20s cooldown for example. Second it should give you a lock and load proc when it triggers. That simple. It could also increase your lock and load stack count to 2. The biggest issues with dark ranger are that we already dont have spare focus to cast these extra aim shots and on top of that we dont have time in the rotation even if we did have focus even with the 50% reduced cast time, ON TOP OF THAT most casts of black arrow dont even give a proc half the casts. Great series of videos btw. Its just too bad that sentinel is so much better. Its good to have one strong talent set at least. Just a shame for dark ranger.

I'll give it a go after work today! The one thing I really liked about volley is the fact that it gives you 6 seconds of constant trick shots.. so nice for burst with Trueshot.
