I've watched this about 50 times and never noticed the neighbors in the back bar-b-queing until this time. I just figured people were commenting that, in general, the neighbors are lucky because this probably happens a lot that you have music in your back yard. He probably said, hey honey, hurry and come out here, they're at it again.

Like everyone esle, I love this and am so grateful for it. I played it many, many times and didn't notice the neighbours for several months. When I did, it made me so happy to think they were just going about their business and then suddenly got to hear this heavenly performance. Second comment on this song today. Beautiful version. Yeah, love the cello--added dimension. I've sung this song probably 500 times this past 6 months. I sung it to my beloved lab Freddie for the week he lay as he was exiting this world. Someone mentioned Covid. Yes, because of Covid I heard this song for the first time this past year. It was haunting. Dylan didn't write it for this time but my God, Aoife makes you feel and remember every damn month of the last yr and a half. Thank you. We need that.

This is a wonderful video, but I do not think the audio is from this session. The base notes on the guitar do not match Aiofe's strumming pattern in the video which indicates the video is from a different session. Not terrible, but is disappointing.

If you have the original pre-filtered video, I would re-edit it and remove the film noise filter, and add the lyrics as sub-title text. I would also push the vocals several more dB in the mix. This is a beautiful rendition but the video does not do it justice.

The violin and cello solo ( and some of the "in between" string parts ) refer to the melodic line of the (beautiful) Schubert song. Very tastefully integrated into the Dylan melody!

Aoife & Fam played this in a live stream several weeks back. The story was: her husband, Eric Jacobsen, and his brother Colin had asked her to teach them some Dylan. Eric heard a musical similarity to the Schubert piece, and the arrangement is an awesome mash-up of the two songs. So glad this version has been posted!

I've been pondering the same thing and I have to conclude, from various close-micing artifacts I hear (like the sound of hands on a guitar in the opening) and certain very-close-but-not-quite sync issues (like the opening strum), that they are playing/singing along to a pre-recorded track.
