Full review and demo of the Aokeo AK-860i USB podcast, livestream, gaming mic. Plus we compare it with the Shure SM7B 🔥
#Microphones
The Aokeo AK-860i is a USB condenser microphone that includes a desk mic arm, windscreen, and pop filter. Everything you need for podcasting, livestreaming, or KZbin videos.
The mic is compatible with Windows, Mac, Android phones, and iPad and iPhone as well with the proper adapter.
It will also work with OBS, Streamlabs, Twitch, or any other streaming or screen capture software.
The USB cable is a USB-C to multi USB-C or USB-A.
Noise Reduction is built-in. The frequency response is 80Hz to 20KHz.
The Sample Rate can be set between 16 bit/48k, all the way to 24 bit/192k.
It comes with a yoke mount, which is similar to the SM7B, and the included mic arm is stable and easy to adjust.
For the price of $48, this microphone outperformed itself. I have many mics that cost 10X what the AK-860i does, and with the right processing you can make this mic sound like a $500 mic.
We'll even compare it with the $400 Shure SM7B in the video. The SM7B is a great mic to have in your mic-locker, and it's one of my personal favorites. But as you'll hear in the video, the AK-860i can hold it's own.

Thank you so much man! XLR mics just aren't doing it for me anymore and I came across this mic, being fond of the body of the 7b, but I couldn't find a suitable review with a proper audio test. You really knocked it out of the park, especially comparing both rae and processed audio from both the budget mic and a high end mic. Almost nobody goes into such great detail! Seriously man, best mic reviewer out there! Thank you so much!

Well done review. Two thoughts if you do other reviews in the future: Rather than compare a condenser mic (in this case the AK-860i) against a dynamic mic (SM7B), a more instructive comparison could have been the AK-860i against a higher priced condenser, in other words condenser to condenser or dynamic to dynamic. While everyone needs to decide for themselves based on their own ears and use case, I personally appreciate hearing a reviewer's assessment about the pros and cons of a given mic. Thanks for preparing and posting this review. Very informative and professionally done.

The reason why I chose the SM7B is because the AK-860i is marketed as a streaming/podcasting mic, and the SM7B is the most popular mic in that market.

Thanks for the review, the sound is incredible, i just ordered it today for 40$ and i'm really excited. Great review by the way, didn't see any reviewer going so deep in testing and comparison. What are you using for post processing? Seems like a expensive software in your video xD I think Audacity is the standard free software?

Thanks a lot for this review! Its cool that you make soundtests in different distances. This mic connected with USB C directly in an iPad Pro, is this possible? Will iPad Pro recognize this mic directly or you must use a usb hub or an adapter?

I bought this microphone kit a couple weeks ago, Mine sounded like garbage so I returned it. Also the upper mic arm elbow made a scraping noise when adjusting it.

Hi. Can you please help set up voicemeeter potato, OBS, FL studio, and Jamkazam in one system? I can not make the FL studio works in Jamkazam. I also used presonus audio box with 2 lines (1 for microphone and 2 for a keyboard)

What is a good free beginner software for just making your mic audio sound better. I do gaming and discord and such so I need life processing not post.

@@elprxdigy When he took it apart it was much simpler inside. I was hoping the mic had ANY electronics inside it, but the capsule looks good for what it needs to do. I'm using a Blue Snowball right now and I hope this to be an improvement.

It literally says in the video DO NOT take the mic apart because you will break the wires. I take mics apart so you don't have to. If you broke the wires, you'll need to re-solder them. Takes about 10 minutes.
