@@shanecoleman5952my first question would be are we happy that our government is breaking the international law- illegal immigrant trafficking Act (2000) whereby it states that it's illegal to knowingly facilitate the entry into the state by an illegal immigrant. My second question would be our we going to set up a border agency as mcantee has brought our border control team from 20 to 2 who now sit in Dundalk garda station incase an illegal wonders in asking for directions to dublin. 3. Update the safe list to only include countries with a war, famine or natural disaster or very serious cases of persecution with proof. 4 impose the UK system of granting permission to stay for 5 years and review if they haven't found a job or if committed a crime then out. 38% percent of our welfare payments go to non Irish and that's not including the Ukraine or refugees both legal and illegal. There is more but feel I have written enough and maybe no one will read

The whole thing stinks to high heaven when you have propery developers getting millions in debt forgiveness written off but are now pocketing millions more of taxpayers money , much of it going to offshore tax havens. For God's sake it not rocket science. We have a massive problem with housing, health etcetera (regarding the Irish people). There also ought to be a total and strict ban on the practice of Sharia law which conflicts with the laws of this country. No woman living in Ireland should be compelled to hide her face or to have her speech restricted in private or in public. @@JO-ui9fl yeah and i share your feelings, but airlines already can be fined for bringing undocumented travellers into the country. They can now be fined up to €5,000, so apparently Ryanair is taking photos of all passports before passengers board. It's up to the government to follow up on this. Unbelievably, people who are prosecuted for this can still apply for International Protection. Imagine your very first act in a new country is to commit a crime and you're still allowed to stay

We seriously need a system in which there is not endless quantities of people pouring into the country, and this, if you have any concerns with regards to the issues regarding mass immigration, then suddenly you're far right, when statistics from other countries have clearly shown problems, and recognising this, does not make you far right. It's a 1,2, skip a few, 99,100 style thinking. No nuance. But seriously, the rate of immigration needs to come down seriously, and it has nothing to do with skin colour, although, certain ideologies, and values, do need serious questioning, and not another phobia to block the way of discussion. Sam Harris' latest podcast, regarding the Trump win, outlines some things we definitely need to take into account here, or tbh, we will actually end up with a far right populous vote, due to the number of issues our politicians, (and the dems in the US lost) are not only ignoring, but welcoming. It's how Harris lost, and how we'll put ourselves in danger in the future. But, the idiocy will prevail imo.

Entirely fair and common sensical. WRT local planning, if criteria are established for assessing capacity within a local community as to housing, education, healthcare, employment etc then there should be no lengthy delays. Either a community meets them all or they do not. It would be incumbent on the government to make up for an shortfalls identified - more schools, extra GPs, more housing before any qualified immigrant applicants are brought in. There also ought to be limits on the numbers of people relative to the size of the local community.

The Travel Docs + Enforcement proposals are key too: cannot have Individuals or Gangs frustrate the Process to determine legitimacy.

The majority of migrants are actually coming from the EU and not overseas. Focusing solely on the non-EU migrants will never solve the problem. Ireland should follow the lead of the UK and quit the EU and this way it can control its border. Even if you stop people from non-EU to come into the country, you will still have loads of them coming from the EU.
@pauldavid6179
@pauldavid6179 9 күн бұрын

@@pauldavid6179 I agree with you on that but we also have to acknowledge that immigration can therefore not be solved then. Even stopping issuing visas to non-EU citizens won't be enough. The problem, in my opinion, is the lack of vision by our political leaders when it comes to immigration. No one will say that there are sectors in our economy that badly need immigrants to function properly. In Italy, Georgia Meloni claimed to solve the immigration only to find out that it is not as easy as it seems. Populism isn't the solution and no one has the balls to admit it unfortunately.

@jackbarber2697 numbers of EU migrants are way down from the 00s. The fact that the state is looking to issue more visas to non-EU migrants to fill job vacancies is telling. I for one am planning on living in Portugal long term. If it wasn't for the EU, I'd have to apply for a visa after a few months, which I wouldn't be guaranteed to get. So, while it needs reform, I'm forced to grudgingly admit we're better in than out of the EU. And no doubt the vast majority of Irish people feel the same.
