-In this video I compare the discrepancies between the Aoralscan Elite Photogrammetry Scan and the Trios 5 edentulous scan body scan and the Medit i900 Scan with a 3D printable splint file attached to the scan bodies.
-The second half of the video shows the Photogrammetry scan as well as an explanation of my printable splint file and a scan video of that.
-This video is not to show the accuracy of the Aoralscan Elite Photogammetry, rather to show why you might want to consider it over an edentulous intraoral scan for full arch implant cases. There are other videos that show the accuracy of the unit vs other photogrammetry solutions.
-The printable splint scan did decent with less than 30 micron discrepancy. With the trios 5 when you go cross arch without a splint file you lose accuracy with around 100-300 micron discrepancies.
-That is not to say there aren't great scanning solutions available that have better and more accurate results (EZ REF, Scan Ladder, Truabutment IO Connect, etc), this is a limited comparison and is only one scan comparison, many more need to be done (and have been done I'm sure).
-But what can be said for sure is don't just rely on intraoral scanning for full arch cases. Doesn't matter how good the scanner is, you can't guarantee that there won't be errors introduced.
