Honestly at first I seen a lot of comments that went to either side. But after a day or so comments on different media accounts have all been logical and not one sided. Someone with a brain knows it was a bit excessive from deegan but ultimately jordan took him self out of it.

Yeah I noticed that too, people needed to sleep on it haha. But that last sentence pretty much sums it up for me. Deegan might have pushed it over the line a bit, but it's not what caused Jordan to miss the main. Jordan had a seasons worth of crashes between a heat race and an LCQ which cause him to not make it, simple as that IMO.

From towatching that heat race with Deegan and Smith, and taking in to account how smith has raced deegan in the past few races I definitely think the kid is tired of the “vet” thinking he can push him around, and from another thought I saw from the incident I think that had probably had been building and deegan might have thought let’s me defend myself and send a message when points weren’t on the line cause in fact he didn’t want to take his teammate out of the championship, just a weekend warrior thoughts after breaking it down

Detroit was F'N wild. Supercross breaks my heart once again AP had that W! I feel the Deegan, Smith incident was awkward good battle but didn't need to happen the way it did. Also, I wish Tom Vialle would be fighting for more heat wins and podiums I'M FULLY aware MXGP & Supercross are different breeds and success doesn't happen overnight but Vialle is a quick study and he's had some very solid results so I'm not trying to discredit him I just expected a little more. I could be missing something it might be an unpopular opinion but that's just how I see it.

What did you think about Hunter stepping in basically giving his thoughts on the question directed towards Deegan?
@ladylog5470

I feel like he was projecting what happened between him and thrasher. No one was allowed to ask Hunter abt the incident last week cuz his agent asked media not to bring it up. I bet if hymas took Hunter out or played those games with him in a heat race of all things Hunter would not have the same point of view. I’m all for aggressive riding but in a heat race against your own teammate is just weird unless the guy banged your wife😅

I get Hunter’s point but what about the fact his agent asked Feld to ask the media to not even ask Hunter about taking Thrasher out? At the end of the day, I don’t care what they do. Go for it dude, light Thrasher up. But the media is called soft if we don’t ask and then called clowns if we do ask. It’s part of the story, we always have to ask them to tell their side of everything

Mad respect to hunter for standing up for haiden in the post race. Smith was clearly faster than deegan and smith has enough years in this sport to pick and choose a better spot to pass. Smith tried to force the issue and, in my opinion, tried to punk deegan. For sure deegan was caught in the moment as many rookies do and going forward I think you’ll see him mature quickly. But as a racing fan I can’t lie I like watching hard racing no matter if it’s a heat or main. Also at the end of the day this is an individual sport and while some riders have “teammates” the riders have a lot of pressure to put up results and will go through anyone to get those results.

I’m so bummed for Chase because he rode smart that race and got the win. Everyone has been complaining about Chase not riding smart and keeps crashing but this time he actually rides smart and good then gets penalized and he is pretty much out of the championship now. Just sucks

My big take away is AP pulled 10+ seconds on the field and the top 5 was flying crazy fast. Dude had it, and I hope he comes back even faster, He's clearly been lacking confidence, he'll lead, but if he gets passed he plummets. Hope the team pumps him up and shows him how much better than the field he was Saturday. So gutted for that crash. Also, Deegan IS a Deegan, it's clearly in his blood, he is gonna battle, and he's gonna race anyone hard. I put no blame on him for that heat, Smith was very clearly battling some inner demons that night, he didn't take being stood up well, and threw away the entire night because he didn't get by in one corner

SX isn't a team sport in my eyes tbh. sure you race for the same factory but when a star bike wins a race you don't see everyone on a star bike get a trophy, it comes down to the rider doing what he needs to do to win. I do agree for a heat race it could be looked at crazy because like you said its not for points. However Smith has been riding Deegan high and off the track all season. If haiden chooses a heat race to finally stand up for himself then so be it. If you aint rubbin, you aint racin lol

I’m totally cool if these guys want to plow each other off the track all day long. Doesn’t matter to me. But in the history of our sport, nobody has done that with a teammate in a heat race. It’s not a team sport during the race sure, but it is a team sport 99% of the rest of the week. Deegan trains with those guys, gets better because he trains with those guys, gets a great bike because he has a team of people behind him, gets help with setups and tips because he has teammates that also test it. People thinking this just blows over at the GOAT farm this week are missing a huge part of this whole story

@StartYourSystems when I was watching it even before Smith went down the first time. I was sitting there thinking something must have went down between the two either earlier in the week during training or sometime between qualifying and thier heat race. Like you said if it's during the main go for it, do what you have to do, especially if you're both in the points battle, but during the heat race when all you're really fighting for is a gate pick. You got to let that go and either deal with it at the truck or in the Main. With that after Smith went down the first time you could tell he was riding Pissed in the heat and then again on the LCQ which led to him making stupid mistakes and not getting into the main at all.

Both guys are faulty… but, one is a kids , the other is the vet! Smith should have back down before he crash. And talk to him after the heat race. @DJMateo99

In my opinion, although JS had a better run through the whoops they still generally came out even into the turn and HD had the inside line. With the momentum coming out of the whoops you would expect a "vet" rider to understand that HD would probably push a little wide and he shouldn't be pushing the envelope on the outside. Like you said it's a heat race, why would he push for that outside when he should know there would be contact? So to me I think JS has some weird attitude towards HD as he's been riding him pretty rough multiple times and this time he got bit. For the press, weird question and just a kid who needs more media experience

Was Deegans racing a little oddly aggressive? Sure. But you hit the nail on the head that Deegan did not take him out of the points race, the poor night was on Smith making dumb decisions. Also, good on Hunter to jump in during the press conference and mention the old style of racing and how you can't pass anyone these days without the media going crazy about it. Smith needs to be the Vet he is and be patient. No doubt if he waited he was passing Deegan in the whoops next lap

Hunter said that but also wouldn’t admit to actually hitting Thrasher and kept saying it was an accident. If you’re going to say things like that, you need to own up to yourself too, can’t make a comment like that and then lie about your own riding and prevent people from asking questions.

I agree both sides had there moments of taking it too far and I hope Haiden can learn from it especially in the post race interviews they need to prepare him for stuff like that. Him being so young you can see hunter and thrasher reacting to his responses pretty much like “I can’t believe this kid is saying that”. I’m wondering how this whole dynamic will feed into there training and if they come together again in a race, is Smith going to absolutely send it and just take out Haiden? Will be interesting for sure

I think you’re spot on Kellen both riders were at fault here even tho Haiden didn’t intentionally take him out they never should have been in that position to begin with Jordan as a vet should for sure have just let Haiden have it if he felt it was going too far. But Haiden really should have thought about what he was doing in that scenario his move on Jordan was way too aggressive for a heat race and hopefully he learns from this and it isn’t a sign that he’s going to be someone who gets too emotional while racing, he has all the talent in the world but maybe just a little bit of maturing still to do which is fair enough since he’s so young

Deagans aggressive riding in the heat was a bad look but he is a rookie and should learn from that. The more pressing issues is his ego. He has been on the podium twice now and has dogged his teammates in both press conferences. He better check his ego or he is going to be on the ground quite a bit. Supercross riders don't put up with that for long.

@StartYourSystems
@StartYourSystems Жыл бұрын
Yeah cool man. Glad you’ve been watching since 2017. It’s not a team sport on the track but it’s a team sport 99% of the time otherwise. Deegan gets to train with, ride with, learn from, build with his teammates all week long. Nobody rides by themselves anymore to train because it doesn’t work. So Star spends millions to invest in a facility to help Deegan learn, to help all his riders grow and get faster. But yeah, not a team sport at all. Just one guy with a machine he built all by himself with no help from anyone else with no training alongside anybody going out there with no mechanic and going for glory

Yes, Deegan's racecraft was weird, but he said he wants to win regardless of whether it's a heat or main, answering Izer's question. Izer then makes it seem like Deegan wasn't in the title fight himself, when he was only 2 points behind Smith in points going into Detroit. Therefore, I'd say they are championship rivals, and now Smith received 0 points 🤷 I want to be clear that I just really dislike David Izer in the press conferences. He does this every time there's a takeout/aggressive pass by getting an answer he doesn't like and just keeps pushing, on top of other really stupid questions.
@StartYourSystems

Yes like I said, Izer did a bad job asking the questions, but Deegan laughing and saying he doesn’t even remember doesn’t do anyone any good. It makes him look like he doesn’t care about his team. And it makes it so we don’t get any details about why he did it. So, then he had to ask him again if there’s anything more to it. None of what anyone did was right which made it all wrong.

I’ve seen two instances in person during main events of Jordon running Deegan high. One was after a set of whoops where Deegan almost went over the berm himself before Smith even got to him and another was in a bowl corner after a rhythm section where yeah Jordon ran him high. If Deegan feels he’s getting pushed around, cool man, then just say you’re just riding with him the way he rides you. I don’t really care if he puts him in row 25, but laughing about it and saying he doesn’t even remember sounds a lot like Justin Barcia who gets booed out of stadiums and instead here we are with a legion of Deegan defense behind him instead.
