I am from the same state in India where this documentary. This is totally false news every person more than 60 Years of age will get pension of 4000 Rs, Free food and lot of utility items from State Government of Andhra Pradesh, even my grand mother. These people just choose a random old age worker and interviewed, and they obviously love to ask for more money through media. In this current world their is no meat without Antibiotics.

A better study will be comparing their current living conditions to their previous living conditions and see if their life is better or worse since they started working in the so called "gruelling conditions", most of them come from villages who does even have a toilet at home. AP should do proper research before coming up with conclusions like this.

Why all of a sudden things in indian seafood industry,if you want our workers to get paid well let them have a car and couple of houses i urge and kindly request american consumers to pay atleast 10USD per pound for a shrimp for smaller sizes. Fixing issues on the importers end where they stop looking for cheapest deals is a way this can be combated, unfortunately middlemen will continue to take advantage in that situation as well. Accountability of the system which is supposed to support the ground level workers needs to be evaluated. Unfortunately, in countries like india these enforcing agencies are usually at the mercy of private organisations and corrupt government officials.

Most of the Shrimp exporters are doing value addition at processing area itself May be happened to some area where less man power. Beheading may happen but not grueling condition. Proper Hygiene practice are followed other wise could not survive.
