For question 6 in the Practice Quiz from Ultimate Review Packet for the first unit, how is it national instead of global on map B? Also thank you very much for these videos, they're a lifesaver!

Excellent question! Question 6 is a hard question because it deal with scale of analysis. Remember we scale of analysis is about how the data is grouped or chunked together. Map B is looking at the national poverty lines and is displaying the information for each state, the data is grouped by states. So yes it is a global map but we are not looking at data through global scale of analysis, where state boundaries would not matter. Here the boundaries do matter because the data is grouped on the national scale. Thank you so much for supporting the channel and buying the packet! I am so happy it is helping you out!

wait i am so confused about the scale of anlaysis. So when you showed the Canadan and US map, you said it's natioanl scale. But isn't the infromation grouped by states/providnces rather than Canada and US. So shouldn't that mean its a local scale?

That's true but the the map shows two nations. Therefore it is concluded to be on a national scale. It would have been regional if it was if for example it would have show u the map of US, and the concentration of asian-american across the regions so like California, Florida, etc..

Hey Mr. Sinn, I've been watching your videos over APHUG recently to study for my upcoming AP Exam. I just wanted to say thank you for your videos as they've helped me a lot. Additionally, I've noticed a slight mistake in your definition of the Mercator Project; it says that it maintains distance, but that isn't true. It only preserves direction, and according to some sources, the shape of landmasses as well.

I would say environmental possiblism trumps determinism because of states like Venezuela that have a large amount of resources and fail due to high dependence on a resource.

Since they have been kind of 'formally' approved by the government as such regions, they are considered formal regions. A perceptual region would be more like the Midwest (USA)
