Elbys was my great aunt she was married to my grandmothers brother Charles. Spent a week at there home in 2005. She was such a wonderful lady I learned a lot about her and her peoples history. Wish I could of gotten to back one more time before they both passed

Cochise kept his word...so did General Oliver O Howard...so did John Clum...unlike Geronimo...Taza should have been leader not Geronimo...Geronimo is the reason the Chiricahua went to Florida...

i don't know if this strong lady is still alive, but all i can say is that she have a lot of alive relatives in Arizpe, Moctezuma and Sahuaripa in Sonora, there are a lot of descendants of José Lorenzo Félix nicknamed "Mangas Coloradas", same as José, alias "Coché" (Cochise) and his youngest brother Pluma Blanca or "Juan el Apache" (Juan Figueroa)....there are a lot of grand-grandsons or relatives in Janos, Chihuahua. I think that reservation Apaches should try to make more links with their relatives apaches that survived in the Sierra Madre of Sonora and Chihuahua.

Apache Arvizu, Catalina Chagaray (Gerónimo's mother), Lupe (Gerónimo's first wife) his three kids and a lot more died in this massacre. This felony taked to a political and militar conflict between Sonora and Chihuahua. Gerónimo spent his years taking revenge, but at the end, he tried to surrender in Cúchuta Sonora....and they took him to general miles. Mexicans soldiers didn't want him in Sonora (even he promised to live pacefully in México) and he felt betrayed again when they called Miles to take him to reservation. -You can search te oral tradition in Fronteras, Bavispe, Cúchuta in Sonora and Janos, Casas grandes in Chihuahua. Gringo books are full of lies, misunderstandigs and bad wills to México.

I don´t know if you are familiar with a Norwegian cientist named Helge Ingstad. He found out and proved the relationship between apache language and the language of the native tribes in the North. So the Apaches in the south (New Mexico, Arizona ,,)had clear relation with the native indian triebes in the North. There was also clear indications in their myths and stories.

OMG.. She reminds me of my grandmother. I am a descendants of Pocahontas and am Apache. I feel bad that she's alone. I know this is a old video but it hit me today like it was live. She may still be with us because indiana live very long lives. If not my soul hurts that she remained alone. I swear I would have did whatever I could to find her so she would never be alone again. Yes you are correct, Cochise was married to Mangas Coloradas daughter. Victorio's daughter Dichleyhe and Mangas Coloradas son Carl Mangas had many children, the last one was a daughter named Lillian Mangas, she was my great grandmother.

@@johndunn9819 I live on the Mescalero Apache reservation in NM. Lillian Mangas had a daughter named Evelyn Martine, she was the last Chiricahua Apache born in US captivity in 1912. Grandma Evelyn's grandfather was US Chiricahua Apache scout Charles Martine Sr, who helped Lt. Gatewood and cousin Kayitah find Naiche and Geronimo the last time in 1886. My mother's dad was the grandson of US Chiricahua Apache scout Paul Guydelkon Sr. That makes my mother on the census a 4/4ths Warm Springs Chiricahua Apache, she but 1 of a handful full blood Chiricahua Apache left.

Read a book from Ruth Boyer and Narcissus Gayton titled, "Apache Mothers and Daughters", it tells of my family from the 1800s up till close to present day. Ivora is my mother, and it says in the family tree that Amos Gaines was her dad, but that was not right, I dis a DNA test between her and Mason Guydelkon (her uncle) and it came out as closest relation.

It was a common practice to hit a student with a ruler probably till the 1960's. Very common for Hispanic kids who only spoke Spanish. My cousin in the 1950's got hit by nuns, how times have changed.
