Why do we need an Apache Tomcat 8.5 release and what does it contain?

Be Still It depends on your definitions. Apache Tomcat is an implementation of the Java EE Servlet, JSP, UEL, WebSocket and JASPIC specifications. It is certainly a server. Most people would probably agree it is also a web container.

Hello sir, I have problem using tomcat 8.5.13 , In my server there is tomcat 8..5.13 installed but in my system i used tomcat 8.0.43 , When i exported war file using eclipsed from my system and try to deploy/upload in server here is message like " Deoploy upoad fail,exception : can not find operation isServiced " message , So, my question is what is this problem of ? and Ho to use 8.5.13 with eclipse to work on project? I am using windows , and server system is centos . Thanks

which version is good to use ? tomcat 7, 8, 9 ?

For local development, use 8.5.12 or 9.0.0.M18 until the next set of releases which will include a fix for this bug.

It is recommended to use 8.5.x rather than 8.0.x since the plan is to stop 8.0.x releases as soon as practical.

+Thad Humphries Correct. Like 9.0.x, HTTP BIO and AJP BIO have been removed in 8.5.x.
