Other workaround for migrating accross clusters is to have a shared storage for the vm disks and copy the vm config over to another host on the other cluster. If you need to change the network settings, you can do that on the other cluster. Then simple shutdown the vm on the old cluster and start it on the new one.

That's what i do.... but I’m only moving between two node.... testing and production. I doubt I’ll set this up for my use case, but i can see that it would be very useful in a bigger environment.

What I miss the most about Proxmox is some way to automatically / declaratively install new bare-metal nodes and configure them. I want to be able to boot a new machine from PXE, where it goes into an "enlisting" mode, then configure it from a UI or configuration files, and then have it automatically install itself and join itself to the cluster. The configuration done in the UI should be written to a YAML, JSON or TOML file that could be versioned. I feel PDM is the right place to implement this functionality.

Proxmox supports automated installation using an toml answer file, fetched from the iso or from a url pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Automated_Installation it can also be configured to run a post-install script, which would do the cluster joining

This seems like perfect timeing. I've been trying to figure out how to best manage VMs and containers across multiple physical locations. I wonder if there are other good tools that allow that functionality that are farther along in development

Native host node backups is my biggest request for the Proxmox folks.
