For the past six months African guerrillas, operating
from bases in Zambia and Mozambique have been
carrying out hit and run raids on isolated white farms
in Rhodesia's border area. In January 1973 Rhodesia
closed the border and mounted a trading blockade to
force Zambia'a President Kaunda to deal with the
guerrillas. Kaunda retaliated by closing his side of the
border, stopping copper shipments on Rhodesian
Railways, and accusing Rhodesia of aggression in the
United Nations. This report shows the aftermath of
the guerrilla attacks, talks to the victims and analyses
the political and economic issues.

I lived in South Africa and spent a good deal of time working in Rhodesia in the 1970's it was the loveliest country I've ever been in and we in South Africa, that is the non politicians hoped we could continue with support to Rhodesia as it was a good well run country. The British were put out because of UDI and subsequently betrayed a country who's people had fought for Britain in two world wars. Shame on you, once again!.

Very much so. It was a tragedy that the socialist army officers in Lisbon were able to oust Caetano's government. Their abject surrender of Portugal's overseas provinces in Africa was an act of reckless stupidity, with disastrous consequences for the stability and prosperity of Angola and Mozambique in particular, but also for the people of Rhodesia, black and white alike.
