I moved to Colorado Springs from New York and similarly NY is very much like CA in terms of pricing for apartments and getting less for your money. However, in Colorado, you def. get luxury living for a fraction of the price. I find the natives in CO find it offensive when I mention how affordable / cheap the cost of living is here. Coming from a big city and living in Manhattan where our rent ranges from $2-6,000 for a box is such a huge difference! I'm sure you can relate. I vlogged my moving journey and recently my apartment hunting journey as well. We found an apartment complex here with EVERYTHING back in March. But since our lease is up soon, we recently wanted to look around the COSprings on foot to see what they had to offer and there are TONS. My husband and I prefer COSprings over Denver because Denver can be more "city like" and reminded us too much of NY...plus our Mountain Views in COSprings is UNBEATABLE. Try checking out what it's like living over here. I suggest visiting for sure. I think you would like it over Denver city or their burbs as well. The Springs has so much to offer.. it's a mix. Since we have been here 8mo we are now re-thinking CO due to us being over the cold and may be considering TX or CA next. It's November and even with 350 days of sun, it is colder than NY at the moment as the weather is becoming a downside to us. We were told it gets "cold late February / March" which is what we thought too but this November is feeling worse than NY January winters lately. Currently NY is warmer right now... and don't get me wrong NY has its downsides with gloomy winters starting in January with no sun which is super depressing. (caused seasonal depression for us and most). We also moved here for church community which has been such a blessing. Check out COSprings when you can and what it has to offer because it is still BEAUTIFUL and a gem of a place with affordable luxury living as you like. I VLOGGED my experience so you can check that out if it helps. Loved this video and I'll be praying for your journey xx ⛰☀🤎🙏

omg i loved reading your comment and experience, thanks so much for sharing! im so glad you found a place that works for y'all! i actually did live in CO springs for 2 months in 2018 when i nannied for a family and enjoyed it! it's just a tad too suburban and family like for me! we do really love a big city hehe. i love colorado springs tho!!! it's gorgeous! you're so right about the locals finding it offensive 🤣 I get it, I actually paid $1400 for two bedroom back in 2019 in Lakewood, CO! I don't know why some take it personally though. at the end of the day, almost every single city has gone up in cost-of-living! it's all relative! i hear you about the winters! that's gonna take some adjusting for sure. i'll say this tho - it's either seasonal depression or just flat out depression from lacking community. winters are always rough for me regardless of the weather, so im excited to be with friends this year around! i actually don't find it to be too cold right now and am really enjoying this weather but that's likely cuz it's my first time hahah😆 my best friends have been living here for 4/5 years and have mentioned that the winters have gotten less intense and now occur later in the year. thank god for the lots of sunshine!!! anyway, youre so sweet! i wanna check out your vlogs. hope you stick along for the journey 🥲🫶🏼 and if you ever need advice on cali- hmu! if you're into smaller city living, there's definitely some doable places out there!

I was born and raised in Colorado Springs and both my parents and my extended family (including my husband) are from SoCal! I lived in Orange County for two years after highschool before moving back home. I love CO! Life here is just slower and cozier! I also felt like I would never be able to live on my own or buy a home in CA so Colorado for the win! Definitely check out the Springs too😊

@@awarewithalex I grew up here so it will always be home but I miss ca weather baddd right now. A lot has changed but the vibe is similar to socal but a bit more casual. you’ll probably enjoy being able to get around a little easier to different areas! I found I was always driving a while to get anywhere in SD, traffic is similar now though sadly. Summers are the best, make sure you go to red rocks!! Let me know if you need any recs for food anything to do ❤

I'm from colorado and soon will be moving from the southmetro area to the county on denver (really not that far from where I am) and I'm excited but I also have to have a roommate because it's so expensive but, at least the min wage is higher in Denver! Anyway I'm so happy for you, hope you enjoy Denver, and get to see the amazing things we have to offer haha!

Denver is not an affordable city. Colorado is not an affordable state post covid. It used to be and then prices sky rocketed. This video is pretty new. But I think there may be fees that are either not being disclosed to you or us. I’m very enthused about following along with these types of videos. And I tend to do so on Zillow. And I was. So either they’re lying to you, or they’re lying on Zillow. Cause those areas on Zillow go for $2k and up. Many around $2.5k. It is very expensive in Denver. Especially downtown Denver. ESPECIALLY, once you get talking about amenities. Once I started plugging in amenities, we started getting into $3.5k here. I don’t think you’re lying. Just want to make that clear. I in no way think that YOU are the deceitful one. I think they’re advertising inappropriately. I’ve encountered this MANY MANY times when apartment hunting. So just be careful. Thank you for the video. I very much appreciated it and enjoyed it regardless. Very well put together. I’ve been apartment hunting many times and I’ve encountered the false advertising. So I don’t blame you at all. It’s not right. And it changes depending on the site they post on as well. Or who they’re talking to. Very illegal practices.

hey! thanks for your concern and comment. i can assure you that the prices listed are not lies and i did look into any additional fees and pricing. I have a lease that lists it all haha. i mentioned that our budget is $1900 with everything included, so the rent you're seeing is base rent without utilities, water, etc. nothing i visited would be over $2000 with everything included, i'm pretty assertive so I made sure to ask a lot of questions when we visited these places and double check for any hidden fees for both move in and moving out. I do agree that some of the advertising can withhold information, so it's important to double check in person. since I visited 10 places, if I had noticed a trend of all of the apartments being significantly more with fees, I would've made sure to mention that in the video and changed the thumbnail to reflect that accurate pricing! $3500 for a 1 br is more like SF and NY prices, and where I came from, San Diego. but def not Denver! I agree that prices skyrocketed, I used to pay around $1500 for a 2 br in Lakewood back in 2019. what's affordable for people is definitely subjective. since I used to pay almost 2200 for a smaller apartment with a lot less, no AC no washer, dryer, etc, for me, Colorado is affordable for what it has to offer compared to many other states and cities. Florida is around the same but has so much less quality of life to offer. I can assure you that there are PLENTY of great 1 br apartments under 2k with fees and utilities included! if you go on zillow and filter options under $1800, you will see those apartments! I just checked right now and saw plenty all around the city. It just depends on your preferences, ammenities, and sq footage but it's certainly possible to find some thing in that budget. fees aren't included in that base rent, which applies to any apartment when you're searching. However because it's the fall time, there was also tons of moving specials. :)

@ a video idea. Would you ever consider making a video comparing the quality of life that you get Colorado compared to Florida? I’m a New Yorker that has moved to Florida. I feel I get a lot more for my buck. But of course that’s cause I’m from Brooklyn. And I have strongly considered Colorado. But everything I see online is completely out of my price range. I pay $1700 for a 3 bedroom house and I just don’t see how I would get that elsewhere. What are the pros and cons? I think we all would strongly enjoy that video.

I would consider talking about that for sure! I was born and raised in Florida, Orlando to be specific, so I may be a little bit biased since it was my home for so long and I was so desperate to leave. It really just depends where in Florida you're living in, I always say that if you're gonna live in Florida it's definitely better to live by the beach so that you can reap the benefits. it also just depends on what you're looking for in lifestyle, it can change for anyone. For example, if I want more fashion, social life, music, events, networking, etc. then New York might fit me better than Florida! if you ever do need help apartment hunting in Colorado, you're welcome to message me on Instagram and I'd be happy to send you some places :) i'll be honest, you're definitely not gonna get a three bedroom for the price you're paying in Florida! I'm mostly referring to the more popular cities in Florida like Tampa, St. Petersburg, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and even Orlando! PS- i just came across the youtuber Uncomfy, Tammy, and she showed her 2br for under 3k in the Denver area :)
