I know this video is a tad dated now but it worked great factory resetting a AP9641 NMC. I updated the firmware via FTP and it didn't come back online. (SCP didn't work and I couldn't access the web interface). It wasn't pingable and I was across the country, so console access wasn't really going to work. I had someone onsite perform this factory reset and it popped up in the DHCP leases after. Strangely enough the firmware was updated. I need to reconfigure it now obviously but I'm back in business. Thanks for the video.

Glad it helped. I know when I ran into the issue it took me forever to find the "trick" buried in some forum. Figured it might be useful to post something with the right keywords for the search engines ... save someone else the frustration.

@@RBeam6 By any chance do you plan to make a video showing how to upgrade these AP9631. I'm trying to upgrade mine using apc_hw05_aos704_sy704_bootmon109.exe, through Win10 and I'm getting an error saying that: "IP could not be accessed; user cancelled update operation." I can ping and log to the NIC without problems, and I'm also leaving the defaults of SCP and Port 22 Thank you!!!

@@jesusmrodriguez1123 Have you tried using FTP for the protocol rather than SCP? It had been a while since I had done a firmware update on the NMC but think that's how I ended up doing mine previously. Didn't realize there was a newer version of the firmware for the NMC since I was doing the setup on mine early last year. I had been on 6.96 and found the 7.04 when I was trying to refresh my memory on how I had done the update previously. Anyway ... just did one of mine using FTP. Made sure the card was on the default 21 port for FTP and was able to do the update to 7.04 without issue. Just takes a few minutes and the little update app lets you know when it's finished.

@@RBeam6 Yes!!! Success!!! I did try using FTP rather than SCP and it worked perfectly, however I didn't know that from that point on I needed to login to the card via HTTPS, and after a couple of hours of frustration read just that, EUREKA!!! Then, after successfully login to it I enabled HTTP, so now I can login either way, HTTP or HTTPS. Now I'm trying to figure out how to configure and setup the automated eMail notifications via Gmail, and so far it has been an impossible challenge. Please keep me posted in case you have any leads... Thank you VERY MUCH for your help and support in this matter, as it's been greatly appreciated and most valued ! ! !

Never know that snmp card can actually be reset with hidden button. Thanks mate ill give it a try. I had some issue at site that my SNMP card keep being faulty after several months of working. I only resolved it once i replace it with new card. Do you know what are potential problem?

You can do this without the battery shutting down and killing power to the servers plugged in correct? This is only for resetting the network card access and login?

It's not something I would have ever done with a UPS that was in active use. Just had it come up a few times when I bought used cards or APCs with cards that weren't at the factory defaults when I received them. When you do it you're rebooting the network card and don't think that should cause the UPS itself to do any kind of reset and pretty sure I've made network settings changes in cards (which causes the card to reboot) without it taking the UPS offline but it's been awhile since I've had to do it so wouldn't want to say 100% safe if you have something mission critical running off of one.

Took 30 seconds of pressing reset to get the lights to change to orange. What is the default login? The manuals don't show anything. I found a reference to configure a .ini file using text editor but of course, it doesn't exist.

What were you attempting to convey with this video? After performing a factory reset did you enter the default apc username and password? Did it reset the IP settings to a factory default configuration? More details would have been helpful.

I'd have thought factory reset in the title would conveyed most of the items in your critique but guess I was wrong. Sorry to have wasted your time.

@@RBeam6 Great job, thanks! Don't know what the problem with Moving Pictures is - obviously he does'nt own a NMC so he could try it out for himself. Just a poor guy, having too much leisure time ;-)
