Yo everyone, how's everything? My name is ✨dedeco✨ and this is my VIDEO GAME MUSIC DJ SET (or VGM DJ SET please algorithm show these videos when people search for VGM DJ SET. VGM is the same as video game music i promise) series! It is a series where I dig and select only the hottest tracks from (mostly) retro videogames (mainly ps1 and ps2 eras) and then I perform them live using my cheap ass dj controller and virtual dj 7 lol
I've been a dance music producer and DJ for a long time, so these are all video game OSTs that could possibly tear clubs up (we will get some extra chill vibes eventually tho). I want to make something that will show electronic music enthusiasts just how cool and important for dance music history video game soundtracks are!!!
I want to keep this series as legit as possible, so there won't be any remixes over here (specially no EDM mixes lol). Eventually there will be club edits from video game OSTs that I make myself. Those edits will keep all of the original tracks's essences, but will add a couple elements (most of the time just a kick drum) to make them more club-ready. 09:30. This part here; where Terada-san explains that he didn't have the clasic jungle samples so he just spead up breakbeat tracks... THAT is what made his iconic sound. He was just doing that out of necessity of what he had. And to think, we're here trying to imitate it... Sheesh. That's kind of inspiring. Ey, I know I'm a year late but. If you ever have moments where you wonder if you did well enough. Just know you made someone with a terrible attention span stare at a screen and vibe out for almost an hour. I'm upset that I got to this so late, but considering Ape Escape is one of my favorite game series, and I love Soichi, I'm glad I got to see this period. And you did great man. You were really cooking at some parts too, and I'll have to timestamp them for later

CORRECTION: At 11:55, that's not track 4 of Ape Escape MM, that's the main menu track of the game instead. Another fun fact, it's sampled from a previous Soichi Terada song 'Voice From Beyond', which may have also sampled 'Hohai Beats'.

i can't understate how much i love these games, and the sound soichi terada created for them. it sounds silly but this mix actually made me start to tear up, i can't believe i hadn't found it before now. just, shit, thanks for putting this together, it means so much to me.
