Hey Mark. I have an XTX50 and I find it a bit heavy to travel with. I think you dive XTX50s? How would you compare the XL4 Ocea? Wondering if it could be a good regulator to switch to for travel as I believe it's a fair bit lighter (and may also help with jaw fatigue on longer dives). Thanks!

I believe it is a bit lighter, but from what I remember it wasn't enough to justify spending on an upgrade for me@@greatwhitesharky3261

I love this. Very tempted to purchase. Would you recommend for cold water diving? That's all I do. My own reg free flowed with the drop in temp. Had it serviced and its fine.

xl4 is mainly lightweight travelling dive regulator with cold water certify, if your dive cold water locally, choose apeks xtx50 or xtx 200 , or something equivalent from other brand for extreme cold water aka almose freezing water go for apeks MTX-R range

Thank you for the thorough review! There is a reviewer from Japan whose review alternates between showing the second stages with mint and yellow mouthpieces and plain black. The colorful mouthpieces that match the regulators look really nice, and more interesting than black. Do the extra mint and yellow mouthpieces come in the box? If not, can they be ordered from Apeks? And do the hoses to the second stages have any kind of swivel? If not, is there an adaptor you recommend to reduce jaw fatigue? Thanks!

No, they're the separate colour options and the colours are inlayed so they can't be swapped. The Primary Regulator is available in mint or dark grey. The Octo is yellow. The sample regulator that Apeks sent us just happened to be the mint colour model. They don't come with a swivel joint, it is a standard 9/16" thread so you can fit something like an Omniswivel but, one of the benefits of the XL4 is the light 2nd stage that helps to prevent jaw fatigue.

Xl4 or xtx200 for recreational diving?
@ScubaDiverMagazine Жыл бұрын
Either, they're both great regulators. The XL4 is a lot smaller and lighter but still cold water rated. The 200 is ambidextrous and also has a dial-a-breath adjustment but, for recreational diving they're not essential features. I'd dive the XL4.

How does breath? What temp water did you test dive it in?

Hi team, Any one had issues with the XL4 ocea from Apeks free flowing at depth in cold waters ? It is supposed to be a cold water approved reg but I had a free flow at 41m in 09°C yesterday just trying to found out what happened ….
@baptiste9017 Жыл бұрын
well I had another free flow today at 28m in 11°C, I’m in touch with Apeks to found out how that’s happening… I use the Xl 4 ocea as my primary and a scubapro mk17 as secondary…. Not issue with the mk17 ever …. Should have stocked with another scubapro….

Hey, did Apeks answered? Did you found out what the problem was?

What do you look for in a good quality regulator? I see varying price ranges but don't notice much differences besides the model name. I am aiming to dive commercially so I'm more than willing to invest into a high quality one. I'm also based in Scotland so one that can withstand lower temps would be favourable
@thegreatneess2 жыл бұрын
higher range has more feature, like balance 1st and 2nd stage , better breathing , freeze resistance etc apeks xtx 200 would be your top choice, xtx 50 is also good, there was an incident where a diver need to abandon his dive gear underwater (xtx50 set) and 3 years later he found it and the xtx50 still passes all the test but those are recreation and tec diving regulator , for extreme cold water aka almose freezing water go for apeks MTX-R range oh and don't forget CCR (close circuit rebreather) for commercial diving, depend on which type, they uses different system

All good but that ‘baby blue’ color limits the target group quite a bit IMO…

It also comes in black. It's an Apeks regulator, they had to make a black version
