GoPro cameras allow both amateur and professional videographers to get some awesome shots that were previously only seen in high-end production. GoPro cameras are no doubt some of the best action cameras out there but if you’re looking for a less expensive alternative to the GoPro then you’ll want to consider this one.
The Apeman 4K action camera packs in an impressive list of features and accessories all for under $100.
None of the footage has been altered.
I’ve noticed the Apeman action camera adding more saturation and exposure, which in a lot of shots, looks pretty good, especially in low light. You will notice the shot with the alligator being overexposed because of the high contrast of bright and dark in the same scene.
If you’re not into editing your footage in post-production then this could be a good thing for you.
The body of the camera has some texture but it is a little slippery and not as nice as the GoPros rubbery skin.
The GoPros battery did last only a few minutes longer. I was expecting the battery on the Apeman to be pretty short but I was surprised to see it lasting around an hour of constant starting and stopping.
The underwater case feels nice and sturdy. I will be putting it to the test in an upcoming video when I go freediving with it. So far, I’ve tested it to 13 feet with no leaks.
Typical 4K resolution is 3840x2160. I’m not sure why the difference in resolution but it can easily be cropped without losing too much quality.

The 'extra case screen' isn't an 'extra' - the default one is waterproof (and pretty soundproof) - the 'backup' one that comes with it is NOT waterproof - so you can house it in the case above water, and still get some audio (it has a hole in it)

I got the impression that what is in focus is only close to the camera. I returned it. Price is very good and accessory kit too, but your video confirmed my findings, especially looking at the footage in 4K. I ordered the Git2P (90 degree lens) which is better, but not without fault. I think the Apeman may be a 4 megapixel camera interpolated to higher res. Too bad because it is very easy to use and has many settings.

Sorry for the late reply! The only 4k footage was at 9:06. I usually don't film in 4k on these action cameras because they record at a very wide angle. This is true with GoPro Hero5 as well. That can be fixed in Post, but will take extra time.

I'm doing thrifting videos where I need something low profile that I will be wearing... How would you rate the stabilization on the Apeman? Some of the drone footage looked a bit shaky, but most your aquarium and park shots look pretty steady.

Apemans EIS stabilization is nowhere near Gopros Hyper Smooth. I have a pretty steady hand and didn't do a lot of moving. My recommendation is if you’re going to be putting the camera on something that vibrates a lot like a drone then GoPro will outperform but if you’re going to be using it on a tripod for a second B-roll camera then the Apeman is a good choice.

It's alright! I bought it to vlog and it's not too bad. I think it's more of a learning curve than anything. The only issue I have with it is a bit of background static but it's seeming to get better the more I use it. Honestly I'm pretty happy with the overall quality.

I know the X20 has stabilization amzn.to/2kSap1P and I'll be uploading a video comparison soon. Overall it's a great main camera or backup camera. One really good way to help fix shaky footage is to film in the highest setting and then have your editor fix it. I know KZbin has a feature to fix shaky footage which works well. In my years of filming the best tips I can offer is to hold the camera with two hands and tuck in your elbows so they're touching the side of your body. Holding a camera with one hand will almost always come out shaky even with the best stabilization!

This and many other budget "gopro" cameras have fake specs. They are not true 4k, they do not have true 60p, or 120p frame rates or the still resolution they claim. They interpolate 1080 to 4k, and repeat frames to get higher frame rates so you will not get slow motion. Buyer beware. These guys get free cameras and are paid through the links. I did buy one of these Apeman 4k cameras and the 1080 30p footage is pretty good.

I've just bought this camera and for what I paid (£34 - Amazon UK), I am VERY happy!2 Points to note... the battery compartment can be very tricky to open if you haven't got a decent Finger Nail (I have to use the tip of a very small Screwdriver), and there is virtually no difference between the 1080 & 4K (Pretty sure the 4k is just 1080 upscaled).... But for £34, I've no complaints at all!!Once the camera is in the plastic case the buttons actually feel better than when it's out of the case!

Bought the APEMAN that came with 2 batteries. Went 10 meters deep, 0 leaks. Good sound underwater with the casing. I also bought the charger that came with 2 additional batteries. With 4 batteries, I can go a long way. I went under water for at least 3 hours, recording on and off on only 1 battery. APEMAN is a good buy.

I understand that you are looking at the camera from an Action Camera point of view, but it is worth noting all of these Apeman cameras can be used as webcams. Compare the price of the A100, A79, and A80 with the Logitech C920 HD @1080p/60Hz. The Apemans 720p webcam mode is much better than the C920 HD, which has significant lag. I know that there are many who would appreciate a heads up about which action cameras have webcam function and which don't. There is a company developing a software which has a facial capture facility. This Live webcam capture is then put on a digital avatar in real time. This is called Face Over IP or FOIP. There is a game coming out which will be popular, it has the facility to create your own digital avatar and use it to represent yourself online in the game universe (or anywhere with streaming). The main selling point for a camera for that use would be the low light capture. Again Action Cameras function better than the average business webcam in this regard.

I know the Gopro Hero 8 will live stream to KZbin by using the Gopro app downloaded to your phone. If you were streaming from home, you'd have a lot more options but because you'll be outside away from wifi you'll have to rely on a connection from your camera to your phone to upload the feed. Apeman does have an app for their wifi camera where you can preview the shot on you phone and upload the photos to your phone.

that's not an extra backing (clear plate) You have to put that on to record sound when you have it in the case (ie on the headstrap). Check, there are two slots on the sides.

wow, a very good decryption and comparison. I really wanted to see diving footage, but I guess I have to wait for that. I do think you should have taking the time to figure out and show uses for the adapters. Most of the ones that you dismissed out of hand have obvious uses for people who like to fiddle around with complex setups. Eg: Adding an accessory like a remote light to the top, or changing the mounting angle of the cam.

Yes, there's a couple different ways you can transfer the videos to your phone. I recommend taking the micro sd card out of the camera and hooking both your phone and micro sd to your computer and move them that way. Or you could take the clips and upload them to a cloud storage, like Google Drive, and then access that drive from your phone and download them that way.
