How does thsy turn out for milky way holy Grail? Does the shutter speed go up to 30 seconds in full darkness?
@MattiaBicchi2 ай бұрын
Hi Patrick thank you! Yes, I did tried, if you use and external Intervalometer it stays at 4s and ramping the iso as you set them, but if you use the built-in Intervalometer it keep the 4sec and the problem I got when shooting day-to-Milky Way was that the max iso was 500, even if I set it to 6400, for some reason the camera doesn’t go more than that..

Any tips using this method on a motion control day to night? Like on a slider.
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I also use AV while shooting on a slider, basically the settings are more or less the same, the only think is that the camera is not adjusting the exposure ramping with the internal software, but it still does a very good job if there isn’t cars passing by or big lights that turn on in your timelapse.
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
If you don’t want to use the slider to trigger your camera, you can use the in-built intervalometer if the slider is set to video mode instead of Move-Shoot-Move.
@readitoutloud3 жыл бұрын
@@MattiaBicchi thanks for your answer. I tried to time the move without cable using shoot-move-shoot using camera Intervalometer. I was able to get a good result but that was luck with timing the move.

Hi Mattia, thanks for the helpful video 🙏🏼 However I tried for the first time today to shoot a Timelapse with the intervalometer function in Av mode on my Sonya7iii and something really weird happened… I set the aperture to 5.6, I left the ISO at auto and set it to take one shot every 10 seconds, 500 shots in total. What happened was that the camera never adjusted any settings and all the shots ended up at 1/1000 f5.6 ISO800 Do you have any idea what I’m doing wrong? Thank you so much in advance!

Hi Mattia! I have an A7III and found a bug with the interal intervalometer that the iso wouldn't go above 500 even when I set the max to 3200 ISO after the max shutter speed is reached. How do you deal with that. Greetings from Austria!
@MattiaBicchi Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, I found out about that too, mainly when I want to shoot day to Milky Way, I think is a limitation on the internal intervalometer, apparently on the A7IV is fixed. For the A7III I would use an external intervalometer. It works for me.. 👌

Hi, well, there isn't a simple answer, camera settings are different for every condition. For sunset, try to use Av mode at f4/ Auto ISO.. but if you are learning I would recommend trying and failing in Manual Mode. You will learn a lot by throwing away timelapse eh eh

Thanks for the tips. You already help me with the manual mode in Emeric timelapse video comments :) ( I'm frtimelapse). Personally if the sky is the subject maybe the aperture mode is the good choice. But I think if the light rays of the car of something like this is the subject, it could be interesting to stay in manual and have the fully control of the dimension of light rays. It's an example. I love control everything but it good to sleep sometimes :D Also if you have the sun in the shot, it's better to be in manual because you don't want to change setting when the sun is on the picture.
@MattiaBicchi3 жыл бұрын
So glad I could help! 😊 Yep, if you want light trails you would need to change aperture or use an ND filter since the beginning. In my experience I haven’t got any issues with the sun in the shot wile using AV, because the settings changes are very minimal, I think 1/10 instead of 1/3 of a stop. If you are shooting in Manual then yes, definitely don’t change settings when the sun is up! 😊
