Its building gimmick is really the only thing that sets it apart from other BRs like PUBG, although PUBG screwed itself over by the devs being complacent even though it was the first. Apex Legends introduced the Hero/class system that OverWatch has with really fun movement which gave it a lot more depth and complexity than simply building stuff/introducing new weapons like Fortnite does. However, Fortnite's marketing was IMMENSE with how many crossovers it did as well as Twitch streamers who popularized it and while it never really improved much on its core gameplay, it never got worse either and the microtransactions/Battle Passes never got as a egregious as its competitors, hence why it pretty much stands alone as the best BR right now. Everyone else shot themselves in the foot with their BRs except Epic Games.

@@littlehamham3281 they would lose players, also apex cheaters provide money for devs. They could fix cheating by porting game on new engine. And vanguard is not cheating prof in 100%. The way anti cheats work is they add data base of cheat files and scaning sends information to servers or ban 100% accuracy shots in body. Difference with kernal zero anticheats is that these anticheats can read files and what they contain. And it’s not much of help if cheat is written in a certain way. There is no really way to stop cheaters. Staying calm with morals is best way to deal with cheaters.

I'll never stop saying this unless it's fixed: I did tests between zpex, overwatch, and another online game i can't remember. one SINGLE packet loss caused apex to freeze or lag for 2-5 seconds, the other games i either noticed nothing or a single frame felt slightly stuttered. The servers are fine, the netcode is shit, also evidenced by 50 ping unironically acting like 300 ping, getting shot after well around corners

"Apex runs completely in the cloud and not just on one provider but they use server data centers provided by Google, Microsoft and Amazon. This is one reason why EA is unable to upgrade server hardware as people keep screaming for. It isn't possible to tell the difference between a Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS server by looking at the data center names but if you see a GCE after the name it is a Google Compute Engine server. The primary upshot of this is that Respawn will never be able to explicitly upgrade their servers since they don't own any. Any improvement will come because the cloud providers do so or as a result of Respawn improving their software. It also explains why it is challenging for Respawn to do dynamic load balancing of players to different data centers although I would still argue that a smart client based system could possibly work."
