Shock is a very small contributor to death, and while it is possible, it’s very unlikely that he would die from that factor, he’d be more likely to die from blood loss then shock, it’s very clear he knew the grenade was going to harm him, he prepared himself for that outcome. That’s like me walking through a thorn bush and then being surprised that I got pricked. It’s just very unlikely, and making that seem like an alternative is misleading.

It reminds me one story my professor told me some time ago: they were little kids after the WWII ended, most of the bombarded cities were still half destroyed, and they used to play a lot in the countryside. One time he and his friends found an old stash of weapons, probably from the Resistence, one girl found a round object and they all started to play with it like it was a ball, when their parents found them, they realized it was an old granade. The friend does have a valid reason to get mad. When they first found the grenade, they talked about certain "Salvo Freedom Fighters" who basically fought for the freedom of their planet. So when Fuse became big and eventually "sold" off the planet for the Syndicate to use for the Apex Games, she felt as if it was a betrayal to Fuse's roots, and pulls the pin on the grenade

Yeah...in the Defiance stories and trailers, you can tell just how much Maggie cares about Salvo. She genuinely is trying to fight against an oppressive dystopia regime, and here Wally is literally choosing to fight FOR the enemy they fought against her entire life. No wonder she was so furious. It doesn't even come close to justifying her attack on the opening ceremony, but that grenade? You can understand how totally betrayed she felt.

Grenades only start to explode if you let go of a trigger like arm. If you pull out the pin it won't start exploding only after you completely let go of the grenade. As long as you push that arm down you should be fine

@@doomchap7614 Its not an impact grenade, and if that did happen..it wouldn't explode, grenades with switches strike a flint or something equivalent inside which creates a spark that ignites the gun powder, the following explosion being cause of air pressure. Basically if it ever broke or got a hole put in it. The powder would just spill out.

In the beginning they were talking about salvo freedom fighters, and later it shows that salvo joined the syndicate which I believe is who they were fighting, and fuse wanted to leave salvo to go join the games run by the syndicate, so she saw it as a betrayal. After rewatching the trailer a few times I think I get the gist of what is going on. This entire trailer was about two things: 1. The girl trying to get his attention 2. The guy chasing after the next thing Example 1, boy gets knocked down a hole by her and she reaches out to help him. (Odds are he was chasing something and she knocks him down the hole to get his attention.) she then picks up a “golden” grenade. That catches the guys attention more than her which is why he steals the grenade and runs off while she is talking. She chases him because she wants his attention. Example 2: We see them play around a bit, stealing the grenade from each other (notice that at 1:03, it is the LAST TIME he tries to take the grenade from her) and stuff, but things change with the bonecage. They both watched it for many years, but she probably became sick of it; however for him, it was the next thing to chase rather that the grenade. Evidence of this is when they were robbing a bank (or something) and he stole the belt for the bonecage. Of course she didn’t like that he was so interested in the bonecage so she slapped the belt out of his hand, took the grenade (probably in hopes that he would chase after her) and left him. Clearly that hurt him (compare 1:23 to 1:27 if you don’t believe me). Example 3: We see him training to be in the bonecage and he is fighting against this guys and then she comes with this strong guy to challenge him (I think she found the strongest guy she could so he would lose the fight and come back to her. OR she found strong guy so that if he was able to the strong guy, then he will finally fell satisfied with bonecage and go back to how they were in the old days). She even bet the grenade to raise the stakes. Well, he won and he rose the grenade in his hands probably as a “DID YOU SEE THAT?? I WON AGAINST THAT GUY!!!” gesture to her; she responded with amber arms crossed probably saying “haha you won this time, I’ll admit it” gesture back at him. She was probably hoping that that thinking would go back to “normal”. It did not clearly as in the next scene, he was clearly focused on the bonecage match and not what was in front of him (and her) which is why took the grenade and started a fight (again, in hopes to get his attention). Example 4: The next scene shows him fighting in the ring against a number of armed fighters (probably hired by the girl). The girl’s posture made it seems like she had a lot riding on the match (that being him losing so he gives up on the bonecage). As he was winning you saw her getting more disappointed by the second. Eventually he won the title and she chucked the grenade at him and walked away (maybe as a “I give up” gesture). If you notice at 2:28, he didn’t hold the grenade the same way that he once did, symbolizing his lost interest in it. The final scene showed a lot. He tells her he is leaving the gang and gives her the grenade. She clearly isn’t happy and tries one last ploy to get his attention by pulling the pin and slamming him a bottle. He quickly reacts and counters her. She looked excited thinking along the lines“ YES HE IS FINALLY LOOKING AT ME AGAIN, JUST LIKE OLD TIMES”, but he is uninterested as he gives her back the pin. In a fit of rage she chucks the grenade at him which catches him off guard. When she comes to, she sees his hand reaching out for her. This is what she really has wanted ALL ALONG. Not the gang, not the fighting, not the money, just for him to “reach out for her”. That is why she reached out the way she did at 3:43 Unfortunately for her, that hand, that connection was dead as she sees him rise. I was wondering why he wasn’t freaking about about his arm gone, but I think he wasn’t freaking about by the pain because he was dealing with something more severe, heartbreak. Years of connection between those two destroyed by an act of betrayal. The pain of losing an arm to him paled in comparison to his heartbreaking. It’s why he walks out saying “It’s a lost cause” talking not about the hand, but the trust/connection between them. The grenade represented their relationship: unstable and volatile. From how the scenes showed, while things started out good, over time they never really “talked” to one another and continuously hurt one another. All it took was a pull of the “pin” for everything to go up in flames. Compare 0:20 and 3:47 for further proof. Lack of communication (USING WORDS) in any relationship will lead to its downfall. Maybe just maybe if they had talked for real, 0:20 would not have been the last time that they BOTH reach for each other. OR I’m just overthink it and it’s just a cool trailer with explosions and punching people. Either way great trailer!
