In another gunsmith blog, I found a product called "Bob Smith Industries BSI-161H UN-CURE Super Glue Debonder, 1" that you can get on Amazon. Just put a drop on a locked screw, wait 1/2 hour, and the screw comes right out. It's intended for ACA glue but works like a champ on Loctite. What a find!

It's wild how manufacturers don't just dial in the triggers right off the bat. I considered adding an Apex trigger to my 2.0 but with the added $180 to the base price of $729 out the door I may' have leaned toward a 9mm 1911 instead of the S&W 2.0 if I had known what I know now.

I had bad experience with changing two of my M&P's trigger to an apex. I was having light primer strikes with browning ammo and Winchester ammo because of their hard primer. When I fed the same ammo through my other stock M&P 2.0 and through my Walther PDP and my Glock, they fed easily. Suffice to say that I'm no longer all train my trigger

I have a 2.0 and I hate the amount of travel it takes to fire the pistol. Based on your video, there is a clear difference between the stock trigger and the Apex trigger breaking points.
@jamesbroughton7870 Жыл бұрын
That’s the old stock trigger the newer stock triggers are more of a flat trigger. They’re still not that great but they’re a big improvement over that hinged curve trigger. And I have the Apex trigger in mind but I like the pull weight but the reset is anemic it’s not tactile or audible, and there’s still a lot of grit in the pre-travel

@@frankie209fs both of those are nice features to have when you're showing off the gun, but in actual firing, not so much. Smooth and fast is the name of the game with quick follow-up shots and rapid fire. And both are fast, I just prefer the Overwatch without a comparison, so far.

@@willg6997 wish I could say the same. The shoe on the overwatch is nice. However reset leaves me guessing if I let it out far enough to actually reset. Reminds me of the 1.0 triggers. Glad you're enjoying yours.

@@frankie209fs guessing at the reset even with an apex in my 1.0 is NFG IMO. Grabbed up a 2.0 compact and am pretty happy with the stock trigger except for the hinged shoe. Thank you for the amazing video! Quick question,I have replaced my M&P 2.0 trigger with the Apex and I really like it pulling 4lbs but from some reason the reset has not been changed… I have replaced the springs and the safety plunger and still have not fixed the reset issue which is still not tactile or audible, can you please let me know what am I missing.

Grabbed up a New 4” compact. Wish it had the new S&W flat-faced shoe bc the stock trigger is just fine, I just prefer a flatty to the hinged shoe nowadays. So for consistency sake in training I’m back to researching options for flat shoes. Apex, Overwatch, Agency or flat/hinged Timney?? Thoughts?
@faithkillsfear2 жыл бұрын
If all you are looking for is the shoe itself you can usually find the shoes for sale separately. And the trigger shoe shape and size is totally a personal preference thing. But if you also want a shorter break and reset AND a better shoe, then you can’t beat the Apex IMO.
@miketaylorID12 жыл бұрын
@@faithkillsfear yep. I Put an Apex in my 1.0 way back and the improvement was incredible! Unfortunately it did not change its lack of a perceptual reset. This new compact has a slight reset - stock - would a new Apex kit improve that reset? I know the Timney has a pronounced reset, but that’s a hinged shoe. 🤷♂️

I'm curious all the trigger flow chart trigger weights are much heavier. Are your trigger pull weights lower just due to the springs being broken in more?
@faithkillsfear Жыл бұрын
Yes. I believe my round count plays a big factor. But I also believe their number estimates are a tad high. The biggest change will be with the use of the apex trigger return spring. Apex can’t really estimate the break when you stick with the factory trigger return spring as there is likely a variance between them. All of my pistols have the factory trigger return spring’s in them
@mi_cheap_guns2925 Жыл бұрын
Just my personal experience, I’ve always thought the digital Lyman gauge is low to me. I have the Lyman and a cheapo Wheeler spring trigger pull gauge. The Wheeler always seemed more realistic when it came to the pull weight and the numbers you were trying to achieve with the spring combinations. Surprisingly, the cheapo gauge is pretty consistent.
@faithkillsfear Жыл бұрын
@@mi_cheap_guns2925 thank you. That is interesting. I have the same wheeler spring style gauge. I will have to compare them.
@mi_cheap_guns2925 Жыл бұрын
@@faithkillsfear The only reason I somewhat came to that conclusion is I did some comparisons with both gauges after I bought the Lyman, I have quite a few handguns with various kits from Apex and also Powder River Precision. The one that really arose the red flag for me was an old PPQ I used to have. It has the Apex flatty in it and a reduced weight trigger return spring, that was supposed to put the pull at 2.5 lbs. The Wheeler registered around the 2.5 every time. The Lyman was saying 1.75, which really didn’t seem believable.

@@josephsantana3094 the advice that me and several other friends agreed upon was that the trigger bar needed to be bent ever so slightly (the end closest to the rear of the frame towards the takedown lever/left side of the frame). This will apply more lateral pressure to the sear connector which will give you more sound and feel to the reset.
@josephsantana30942 жыл бұрын
@@faithkillsfear I appreciate the reply but I'm not really following. You mentioned closest to the rear of the frame but takedown lever is definitely in front of the entire trigger assembly on the frame? And then the trigger bar runs back along the right side of the frame where it meets the sear housing in the right side rear of the frame. What do I need to do on the left side of the frame? Do I need to bend the front end of the bar that the trigger shoe is connected to or do I need to bend the end that connects to the sear housing? And which direction do I need to bend it?
@faithkillsfear2 жыл бұрын
@@josephsantana3094 if the frame is facing away from you (muzzle end away from you) and the trigger bar is on the right side, remove the bar; with the trigger in your left hand and the pointed part (which goes into the sear) in your right hand, put your thumb in the middle and flex the bar towards yourself ever so slightly. The goal is for the pointed part of the trigger bar to push a little more towards the left side of the frame. Don’t over do it though. If you DM me on IG I can send you a video
