Even though I wasn't around for the early years, I felt like I was indoctrinated into his cult with Drukqs when I was 13 in 2002... innocent were my ears and mind then! This felt like a sonic and emotional compression of something that can only be described through the depth of this sound, the immaculate transmission of subtleties that impact on levels suggested visually here- which, if you have experienced him live, at least in recent times, you will know a physical component to this that cannot be replicated otherwise, which I feel is a certain kind of love that he extends to those who love him and his music. I wasn't quite sure why I had such an emotional reaction otherwise, then last moment hit and it made sense. No more words needed, just the presence of this sound, reverberating through atoms, ear drums, generations and eras...

Я с вашей музыкой уже больше 20 лет, Ричард. Кажется прошла вся жизнь. И я помню первые сильные впечатления. Утрата родителей - самое печальное, что я могу представить. Держитесь пожалуйста

My heart dropped at the end, lovely memories, indeed a beautiful and warm track/song to dedicate. Much love, all the best to the James family.

it's called "blackbox recorder" cus richard made these trax while jamming live on a plane, which he promptly crashed into the side of a mountain. fortunately he ejected from the plane on time, then retrieved recordings from the blackbox and compiled them into this EP. truely epik afex moment

Absolutely unreal track. I am blown away at the intricacy of your visuals, and the track? Just indescribable. Maybe some day I'll reach your level of musical and audiovisual skill, but I probably won't. If that is not of any consolation, I am also sorry for your loss mate. I look forward to seeing how you push the boundaries of music ❤

I found out about this artist because of William Montgomery on Kill Tony. I love it. You need to do a collab with him. That would probably be the single greatest moment of his life. He talks about Aphex Twin on every one of his stand up sets.

Damn... condolences for your loss. I too lost my dad during the Covid crisis, and he was the last parent I had. Not great. Sucks to be losing someone close, apparently forever. Been listening to your stuff since the late '90s, so it's great you're still doing your unique brew of techno, despite... everything!

I honestly don't know if Richard understands the deep science on how timbres and scales/chords/notes effect the human mind, but he definitely knows it on some sort of heightened level. It's easy to say that most music does this to some extent, but Richard has distilled it into a potent tincture that I gladly quaff. I do hope he eventually releases one of his caricatures of a "pop song" again one day. Window Licker and Come To Daddy were both masterpieces of him making fun of the trends of the time and I'd love to hear him do it for current ones.

I lost the love of my life Feb 11th this year. My sister passed may 17th. While the person I thought would be there forever and one I thought was stuck with me forever are both obviously significant losses and my parents aren't even a consolation prize, I can't imagine how much you must be impacted by this compounded loss and my heart goes out you and I appreciate sharing that, bc alone that can be hard and I hope you find peace. I've always felt the come to daddy ep was your finnegans Wake and there's a very personal "portrait of a young artist" nature to the entire idea behind it with mum dad the boy and etc the ball. It's a beautiful homage that sort of brings the significance of this track and the loss of both of them that is just overwhelmingly drawing me to express this sentiment and my appreciation for all of it you've shared with me through the world despite the fact I'm well aware that this is more than likely equal parts you would never read this in your read every one of them every time. Thank you Derek and Miss Lorna and thank you Dick.

For someone who never knew the names of James' parents, that dedicated to Lorna and Derek just further contextualizes Lornaderek from Drukqs- it's a song named after his parents - that track is definitely a tear jerker- and the transition into QKthr- Aphex has always had a sentimentality around making music either featuring or dedicated to his family- it's so heart warming to know he's been paying musical respects to them for decades
