I compiled every single piano song I could find by Aphex Twin. I always wanted a calm playlist of his music, so here's what I've made. Hopefully there are some songs you haven't heard yet :)

I was sitting in my Kia Picanto with my 90 year old mum, eating an ice cream, by The Rivet Ouse in Ely, Cambs. A guy walked by wearing an Aphex Twin t-shirt and I wound down the window and greeted him with a point at his shirt. 2022 highlight.

@@jarrah1496 True but just reordered to be less chaotic! I think Drukqs might have been better with 1 disc slow piano stuff, and the second disc the crazy (but equally great) stuff. But he does like to play with peoples heads.

@@JeggFilms If I remember well, Richard James let an MP3 player with all his currents unpublished works in progress in a plane. Knowing it would maybe be recognized and leaked, he published them in one album, hence why it doen't make much sense

Some of these pieces bring me back 12 years, when I was listening to them while riding the bus on the way to medschool, when I was healthy, could move freely and wasn't confined to a bed for the majority of my time. It's so nostalgic.

I have no familiarity with any of these songs but that first one is the most beautiful, gentle, and simple tune that I’ve ever heard.

Interestingly it's an example of some of his work where he programmed a midi device to play the notes on a piano via a mechanical device, which is why it sounds both simple and robotic at the same time. Quite innocent in a way. And a lot more complex to produce than otherwise initially thought.

@@purgruv I always thought Avril 14th was played by hand. But I just realized that if you listen closely (in a quiet environment) you can faintly hear the clicking sound of the device that's triggering the keys.

Back in the day I bought this album (druqs) on release day. One of the first things that stood out to me was the mechanical noises Avril 14th. I loved that he put those sounds in there because it makes it more intimate and pure like you are there sitting next to the piano. I didn't realise at the time it was played by a midi controlled machine. Nevertheless, genius piece.

Richard really is a genius, mellow tracks, melodic bouncy tunes, chaotic ear bleeding belters, and everything in between, he is a master of the lot... From the days of me discovering his music, I think it was while watching MTV Chill Out Zone during my earliest clubbing years (I'll be 49 this year), the years when I happily spent close to all of my wages getting a decent (physical) music collection together, to today, where we can all mostly find whatever music we are searching for in an instant, I still listen to his music more than any other artists I like. Also, what fan can't like an artist who dumps some absolute amazing gems onto Soundcloud for all to enjoy... ❤ 🔊

I met Aphex Twin in Barcelona with my good friend Marie. I hounded him like a silly groupie pretending to be a journalist. I didnt ask him any worthy questions and he seemed so shy and unpretentious. Still what an artist!

This music is extraordinary. Minimalist, soundscape gemstones. Each and every one of them. Echo's of Erik Satie and Brian Eno. As a sidenote, Aisatsana (Anastasia?) reminded me of Viola Martinsson's Made Of- used for a Volvo commercial. My favorite track is Petiatil cx htdui.Thanks for this. ❤

@@Yusvf I don't have a source for this, and I'm sure someone has the proper, complete answer, but apparently a lot of legal troubles and controversy went around it. I believe Richard never got acknowledged of the sample either way due to Kanye's lawyers.

It's only one song, but "Hammock Therapy" by Shpongle fits in this groove beautifully. Hope you enjoy it. Also, at's not quite this style of music, but if you want to find some soothing music, the artist Nujabes is amazing. His style might be considered adjacent to this sort of stuff.

Aphex Twin is genuinely one of the greatest music artists ever. I’d say he’s on the same level as Beyoncé, Kanye West, The Weeknd, Michael Jackson, The Beatles. His music just makes you feel an emotion you didn’t know existed. He’s a genius. He makes nothing more than masterpieces
