❤❤ Liner notes from new remaster of SAW II: “Rhubarb notes: My mum gave me so much love, dedicated her life to me, filled me to the brim with confidence and somehow managed to be a nurse at the same time. That love she gave can now be felt by millions of people all over the world and beyond through this music. “Thanks for everything Lorna James! “I watched both my mum and dad die in front of me recently, was so very grateful to have been able to be with them then, as scary as it was to see. She was cracking jokes hours before she left, even though she was in a lot of pain, she told the awkward doctor on the last day, 'I should be shot, put down', she was very funny. I opened the lovely french doors to the room she was in on the last morning, it was sunny and she said, 'ah that beautiful Champagne air', will remember that til I die. “I still meet them in my dreams regularly and have relaxing normal chats about nothing in particular, I'm going to see if all three of us can listen to this track next time we meet up. “Richard D. James, June 2024”

I still vaguely remember that old youtube video of this song. Finding it, reading all the comments people left, was like rediscovering Rhubarb all over again. No matter what version, that raw sense of longing, melancholy and simply love can always be felt and for decades that never changed. I'm so grateful I'm able to hear music that moves me like that. Thanks for sharing your music and emotions with us, Richard. I hope your parents rest in peace.

The path to enlightenment is challenging. You'll feel much pain along the way. This is impermanent and will not last forever. After the dark night of the soul always comes the dawn light of the awakening. If you choose to take this path, there is no turning back. Keep going fellow travellers, we are all on our own journey back to our true selves and oneness with everything. RDJ is here to guide us. God bless you Richard. 7\

From Wikipedia: "The precise origin of culinary rhubarb is unknown. The species Rheum rhabarbarum (syn. R. undulatum) and R. rhaponticum were grown in Europe before the 18th century and used for medicinal purposes. By the early 18th century, these two species and a possible hybrid of unknown origin, R. × hybridum, were grown as vegetable crops in England and Scandinavia. They readily hybridize, and culinary rhubarb was developed by selecting open-pollinated seed, so its precise origin is almost impossible to determine.[3] In appearance, samples of culinary rhubarb vary on a continuum between R. rhaponticum and R. rhabarbarum. However, modern rhubarb cultivars are tetraploids with 2n = 44, in contrast to 2n = 22 for the wild species. Although rhubarb is a vegetable, it is often put to the same culinary uses as fruits.[5] The leaf stalks can be used raw, when they have a crisp texture (similar to celery, although it is in a different family), but are most commonly cooked with sugar and used in pies, crumbles and other desserts. They have a strong, tart taste. Many cultivars have been developed for human consumption, most of which are recognised as Rheum × hybridum by the Royal Horticultural Society." Neat.
