I love the API but I feel all the tracks are super compressed even before its hits the API so you cant really hear its influence as you should be hearing it

I'm a big fan of UAD plugins, they're very authentic. One delay I'd like to hear modelled is the Ibanez DE-7. Yeah, its a digital delay but the lofi echo mode has a very special tone, especially when feedback overdrives the analog part of the circuit. One of the best delay sounds of all time IMO.

Theres a free vst that emulates it very well. I cannot remember the name of it however. Also, that pedal is not analog in any way.

4:03 massively confuses me. He's saying a slow attack and fast release equals the most punchy drums. Yet he has the fastest possible attack enabled from the Little Smack preset and the fast attack I swear is supposed to make it punchy? I don't know anything I'm just trying to learn
@UniversalAudio Жыл бұрын
At 4:03, the Attack is set to the slowest setting.

Somebody does not explain the link section 😕
@UniversalAudio2 жыл бұрын
The link section allows you to variably link (or unlink) left and right such that even amounts of compression will be applied to each side. Further, there are filters here that allow even more customization for how these signals are handled.
@luv-tsa36922 жыл бұрын

@@UniversalAudio On the filter section if you select the low pass that means the link section will work only on the "Hi & Lo mid "

@@luv-tsa3692 That filter de-emphasizes the topend in the detection circuit, meaning that variations in the topend will impact the gain reduction LESS.

the example tracks sounded already dead on arrival, not needed of an API compressor. - that drum track is probably one of the worst ever sounding lifeless, grooveless and non musical drum record i have ever heard!.;... "gives you a nice punchy drum sound" ??? you must be kidding , right?

I thought the drums sounded better with the plugin bypassed. And all it did to the guitar was bring up the string squeaks which is not what you want.

So the only trick with the 2500 is to use presets and have a basic understanding of compression controls? There are ACTUAL tricks with this compressor (such as make up gain on guitars, etc) that you left out in favour of "slow attack allows more transient through" which is not specific to the 2500... Dunno man. I'd like a tip or trick to get that 6 minutes of my life back.
@Jordan-rb28 Жыл бұрын
Bruh. Make-up gain is a trick to you??? That's literally the most BASIC control and only needs common sense to use.... Basic gain staging -- what tricks do you have up your sleeve LOL Also, I'd say the Thrust, Tone, and Feed would be in the "trick" category since they're a bit more advanced. Idk what kind of magic tricks you were expecting
@Lucidaydreamer Жыл бұрын
@@Jordan-rb28 While I absolutely love how smug you are while not knowing the difference between transparent digital gain, and specific analog character saturation, I think that maybe you should have done 5 minutes of research before diarrhoea-ing your ignorance all over this comment section. Driving the make up gain for guitars IS actually a trick specific to the hardware 2500. Just to make sure you get this: It’s not about raising the volume or gain-staging, the same way that turning up the gain on a tube amplifier is often not just about raising the volume (did I just blow your mind?) Longer attack time to let transient through is not about the 2500 at all. That’s just literally the most basic thing to know about compression. As far as what I was expecting… something worth the time to watch lol. “How to trick out the 2500,” not “baby’s first compressor”
