The secret of the 2500 is use it on "Old mode" which it feeds back the output into the detector circuitry , and then use the output knob to introduce compression leaving the threshold at unity. That way you will benefit from the saturation stage at the same time getting compression. Thats how you make the drums explode.

Prism Sound Atlas...easily the best value of all interfaces where mic pres and world class conversion come together. I owned the Prism Lyra 1 first and was so impressed with the conversion and so delighted with how clean the pres were I sent it back for the Atlas. Best gear decision I've ever made.

+jaceklis76 yeah bro, congrats. I'm somewhat of a pro audio broker, so i help musicians and engineers find the right gear at the right price...i often advise people to go with Prism b/c their gear sounds absolutely beautiful and it is actually a better value than all the other high end converters. I'm actually thinking about getting a Lyra 2 just to keep in my bag for on-the-go production duties.

Great video! The API 2500 is the next compressor on my list. I use outboard gear mainly and still record to tape, the API is a must for my studio :) I do have the waves plug-in for now but nothing like hardware IMHO. This made a little difference on the mix and a good way but my current warm audio G cup does the same thing, to me the sound is not justifying the cost of that being $3,500 because for $4,000 you can get a whole Portico mastering processor Or If you already have a compressor a decent one you can get the drawmer stereo Widener and saturator with the SSL Big 6, or little SiX if you still need to get a compressor, maybe a warm audio, and the three of them with the warm audio G Comp would still give you a better sound for around the same price as you spent on that one item

What do you think about Manley Mu vs 2500 in the 2 bus! Thanks
@Doctormix8 жыл бұрын
Hi Rafael, they are very different in their character. The 2500 is much more aggressive and quite similar to the SSL Bus Compressor. The Manley Mu on the other hand is a bit softer and adds thickness to the sound.

Why don't you just hit the bypass switch instead of the "in" switch to A/B the output?
@Doctormix8 жыл бұрын
Good question! We chose to use the IN switch as it's is a soft in/out button that defeats the compression action silently. The Bypass button is a hard-wire bypass and the transition between in and out would have been a bit more abrupt :)
