Great video. What references would you recommend for determining the minimum required size beams needed for the stiffeners? API 653 doesn't seem to cover much beyond stating they may be required.
@technicalstudies.8 ай бұрын
Thank you bro. As you told, minimum size is not mentioned in the cods. Structural size depends, the diameter, slope, loads on the roof, ind speed etc

What cutting method was used to cut the old annular away so that there was a clean straight profile on the bottom of the shell plates for welding the new annular welds. Are there photos of this work somewhere? You must also take care not to cause a differential settlement situation or cause damage to the shell bottom plate when driving in wedges. Interesting approach.
@technicalstudies.2 жыл бұрын
We used the gas cutting method, fortunately, our gas cutting technician was highly experienced in these types of jobs. He put a 10 thick flat bar near the corner welding and moved the cutting torch horizontally. The cutting was very smooth. Unfortunately, there was not any photograph left.

How to apply RT on weld seams joining annular plates together ?
@technicalstudies.5 ай бұрын
I am sure, you know the answer. Mostly the client will not ask you, when you repare and replace the annular plates.

So you have to raise the tank with crane or hidraulik pistons
@technicalstudies.2 жыл бұрын
Bro. it depends on your pocket 🤣
@technicalstudies.2 жыл бұрын
If you have dollars, I will recommend the jacking method. This is a low-cost method.
@kevinnazeraj17992 жыл бұрын
Yes but if the tank weight is 120 tons, is not so safe to lift it with crane right ?

how do you perform the weld where the 2 annular plate is directly below the shell?
@technicalstudies.3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment.We used to push two wedgs on both side of the joint between the shell and annular plate, making a gap of 20 to 25mm.

@technicalstudies.2 жыл бұрын
@@TheTanker_69 Hai Ketsana. Not many clients, ask for RT, in this type of replacement methods. Instead, UT and PT is possible. In case the client ask for RT is a must, then we need to change the LOW COST to HIGH COST jacking method. Thank you.

API 650 is for constructing a new above ground liquid storage tank while API 653 is for the maintenance of an API 650 to determine whether the tank fit for continued service.
@technicalstudies.2 жыл бұрын
Bro, you are right, but for some corrections, API 650 stands for atmospheric pressure. API 653 stands for whether the tank fits for continued service. Thank you for the comment.

How to weld annular to annular But Joint while Shell plates rest on Annular plate??
@technicalstudies. Жыл бұрын
drive, wedges, between the shell and the annular plate, you will get enough gap for welding, use a needle grinder for cleaning.
