Thanks for the explanation on using the mite treatment, makes sense to change up the material to keep the mites from adapting to the same stuff! I would be interested in your queens next year too!

Well welcome back stranger 😂😂. I know I have been up to my ears in it also but this is the great time of the season where we can make money instead of spending it. I tried Apivar again last year an it did terrible for me so I am going back to Apiguard an OA that I have had great results with. I still have plans to come across the creek sometime an come up to visit you. Been real busy an have lost a family member but sometimes I will get up with you . Glad you had a great season. THANKS

I'm a little south of you in China Grove NC. Using Apiguard for the first time this year because it's less labor intensive. Always used OA with good results and still do. I started last week with 12.5 liters on my nucs 25 on singles and 33 on doubles. They all seem to be tolerating it well. I'll add treatments every 7-10 days to cover the brood cycle and test to see where the mite levels are at. My biggest problem in the past has been mite bombs from other locations that slip in unaware. I'll monitor throughout the summer with flash OA mite drop counts to keep check until fall then winter OA to clean them up. At least that's the plan. Great vids and great info, we really enjoy them.

We got lucky and hit a two week stretch of perfect weather for formic pro. Just finished the treatment and will follow up with Apivar. Good vid, thanks.

Great vid. I have found that 30-35grams of Apiguard once a week to 10 days works great on mites. Slows to stops queen laying a bit but doesn’t harm her or drive bees out. My treatment of choice in July/August. Definitely gotta work at scraping out all the Apiguard propolis they spread on top of frames. Thanks Shelby!

First summer to use apiguard here in south Texas 105+ degrees. Bees did well with added empty medium or deep box for ventilation. Also a very short winter here. Thanks for sharing your process!!

@@Ashby_Farms_NC, do you check your hives in between the treatments or let them go?
@corygriesemer645 Жыл бұрын
Great information on the apiguard. It makes sense to dose with less grams. I’m only buying for a few hives so i get the 50gram tins. I have heard people complain about running their bees off because they put the whole 50 grams in the hive.

Thanks for the video, makes sense to switch things up, also liked your "rant" on queens and genetics, im just a small hobby beekeeper (8 to 10 hives) but also a dairy farmer in ohio, so all about good genetics. I dont do social media, but would be interested in info about puchasing queens. Thank you

I purchased 2 tubs of Apiguard to try but for now I am using up some recentley expired Formic Pro using the single strip method. I'm getting a decent mite drop and the colonies seem to be tolerating it OK in this heat. This week the temps were below 85 degrees (recommended temp limit) so I am hustling to get the strips installed but later this week the temps go back up into the 90's.

I learned a hard lesson last year with apiguard and nucs....I had 30, 3 and 5 frame nucs I lost after using apiguard on them. I put on 15-20 grams depending on size and came back 2 weeks later and they were all gone ....just a few stragglers. Another hard lesson learned.

Curious how your queens would do in North central Texas. Always hot summers in excess of 100 (but its a dry heat, ha). Do you have a website?

I wish the green tub was registered here in Canada, but it's not. YT punishes you for not putting out regular videos. I don't know how some people have the time for YT, like 2 to 3 videos a week. I try sometimes, but life gets in the way.
