One of the first groups that came to mind was Lovelyz, they have a top tier discography that I think you'd really appreciate! oh man, both of these songs were iconic when they came out (not that i was a kpop fan back then). and they're still pretty iconic now, to be honest i am very much not typically a fan of the more cutesie stuff a lot of girl groups are known for (or that people instantly lump girl groups into without giving them a shot... and i've definitely done my fair share of that in the past) but apink has consistently proven to be an exception to that. their stuff still tends to not really be my style but i definitely enjoy it when i hear it, almost like a guilty pleasure. and 'catchy' doesn't even begin to do these songs justice i see a lot suggesting "luv" and will gladly add myself to that list. one of the wins for this song (3rd week of wins) is the first apink/mamamoo interaction and thus mamapink was born... the two groups are pretty decent friends, though it's mostly specific members that try to hang out (or say they try to hang out but never manage to). but still, the groups adore and support each other and their fandoms do, as well

Their first two songs would be pretty good to react ('I don't know' & 'My My') Since it's the start of everything But we have 'Luv' that is the song with most wins for a GG song (17 wins) 'Hush' that is a very different song, I like it but all of the 6 members of Apink hate it lmao 'Remember' is a summer concept (beach, boat, sun, colorful); here I love their hairs (mainly Bomi with her pink and blonde hairs) and I love the song 'Only One' the most underrated one that needs love, because it's a masterpiece 'Five' a colorful one and again the members hate it lmao (but I love all their songs, so this one is not an exception) You have a small amount of options actually, since the company is shitty and don't treat them that well But if you want to check the bsides I recommend 100%%

I wouldn't say you wasted years listening to boy groups BUT......I do think girl groups offer more (I've been listening since 1993) for a variety of reasons. Boy groups will always have more dynamic and athletic choreo, however, with girl groups a few things. -KPOP is kinda obsessed with singing REALLY high for both boys and girls. For a lot of boy groups while they've been trained to sing high, many of them aren't natural tenors whereas more girls sing within their natural range. It allows for more natural sound and individual timbre. I liken it to having cellos or violas playing really HIGH notes that violins play. They can but they weren't meant to play that high and those notes don't utilize the body size or string thickness. With girls groups....it's easier to identify individual voice character....case in point, the Goddess Eunji in APINK who very well be THE BEST female singer (like, not just idol singer but singer in general). You INSTANTLY know when she's singing -Girl choreo.....super expressive and graceful. They focus a lot of arm and hand movements and I find the choreo more lyrical and musical. Sometimes boy choreo gets CRAZY athletic -this era of kpop girl groups were sort of standardized visually but these days there's a lot of individuality in visuals side note: Jung Eunji might be the craziest most talented kpop idol to have ever existed. She's in an ICONIC kdrama (Reply 1997), her VOICE, and these days she's actually a crazy good radio host (sort of korea's version of podcasting since people still listen to the radio in korea)

i feel like many kpop fans go through this awakening from only listening to boy groups and then in like 5 years being girl group central lmfaoooo definitely happened to me now i mainly listen to exo and girl groups as they tend to put out music i like the most these days (including old groups). i recommend checking out more gen 2/early 3rd girl groups (kara and ladies code for sure). i feel like each group during that era has their very unique vibe that i feel we dont get as much these days, unfortunately.

Other people have recommended LUV which they won 17 trophies a record for girl group. You might like “Remember” and a slower song “Petal”. Girl choreography is underrated. Boy groups have large movements and athletic movements but it’s not that girl groups can’t do athletic choreo. They just aren’t allowed. Girl are more challenging because they not only have to focus on facial expression happy/somber/girl crush as well as very fine hand/finger/leg and feet movements. As well as level changes from low to mid to high and hair flicks. It hurts their legs, back and necks all the while in heels. Costumes are also more restrictive. You seem to be waking to girl choreo so I suggest reacting to dance practices for Mr Chu, I’m So Sick and Dumhdurum to see their choreo more clearly. They also did a suit dance choreo for Dumhdurum. Girl groups actually do boy group choreography very well. But not vice versa because the boys aren’t forced to work tirelessly on facial expressions and fine movements.
