how to get the wing and the ribs sir? sorry my english is not good, long time i hope i could build this, a little bit easy, but i cant find the ribs and the wing plan
@afilos Жыл бұрын
the plan is here charlesriverrc.org/articles/apogeehlg/apogee40_wood.pdf. Use 9-10mm balsa for the front solid part of the wing, 2mm balsa for the trailing edge of the wing and free form the ribs with 2mm balsa.

Did you make the central part with the grain of the balsa vertical to the boom and did you patch the connection with fiberglass and epoxy? It should be unbreakable if made like this

Nice glider! Are you using a voltage booster here? What is the board above the JST connector? I grabbed a set of plans from AeroFred. Yours looks like you only used the wing, correct?
@afilos10 ай бұрын
No voltage booster, just a 1s lipo and a 4ch receiver. The wing is from Drelas plans for the apogee the rest is mine. the jst connector is just soldered to the receiver as a battery plug when I use this 4ch receiver for a 4ch plane and I need an extra slot for plugging in the battery.

but with full balsa rudder and stabilizer i think. We do have some foam too, but no hot wire cutter, maybe could sand down for stab and rudder only, and cover with thin fiberglass. Atleast for rudder to reduce flex on launch.. And some carbon F1A tailbooms should be strong enough.
@afilos2 жыл бұрын
@Rih A balsa is perfectly good. My first builds were with balsa 2.5mm foiled. The only problem is humidity and wrapping under the spring tension. For the kids this RE is the best plane to start with. Some pica sim with the 1m RE is needed as a trainer IMO.

@@rihA-g3e Cut the balsa pieces, square with sanding block glue with thin CA to form the final shape and then sand to an airfoil. I used 1cm balsa sheet for the dbox, 3mm balsa sheet for TE and tails, and 2mm balsa for ribs. Wing tip is patched with CF, top and bottom to receive the throwing peg.

Which one do you prefer, balsa or fiberglass?
@afilos2 жыл бұрын
Fiberglass for sure, the balsa has a tendency to warp with moisture. My left-wing has a small washout due to this, but still flies pretty good. I fly the balsa and the son flies the fiberglass so we are competitive at this combination.
