Not a fan of proprietary squid/breakout leads. If you lose/damage it your SOL. The dock should be included as standard but it's almost €200/$200/£175 (and fit in the case) because that is a great idea.

Well it looks like a solid piece of gear, but....i think anyone who is serious about recording will eventually if not start with gear that has more options and is not bound or made for a ipad. Though there are certainly people who have an ipad and want some device to do volume and have a few pre-amps, I would personally buy a laptop and audio interface with more channels, even if you are aiming to only record yourself, see this piece of gear is aimed at people who are younger if am not mistaken.. apple is expensive to begin with, the apogee duet 3 is also expensive... Pro users or semi pro users will not really have a use for this if they are not a songwriter. But a laptop will enable you to use a full fletched DAW with all the plugins you need, and a good interface with suficient pre-amps will enable you to record a drum kit... I don't see this being used by the gross of recording musician if am honest.

@@noiseconnector Stability being the biggest factor.. apogee, ua, antelope, all have shoddy histories of support for their drivers. RME continues to support drivers for devices from the early 2000s.

@@SinclairSound First things first - getting UA, Apogee in the same line with Antelope is crazy. Besides - UA has like 10 years of building interfaces up their sleeves, so it's not great to compare. Apogee had some weird ideas in the past, but you still can use first Symphony on newest Macs. I've both had and used a few interfaces from Apogee, UA and RME and didn't had any problem with any of them (I know, happy me), so it's not an issue for me. I like how feature packed and thought out RME interfaces are, but for sheer audio quality - I would use other gear.
@SinclairSound6 ай бұрын
@@noiseconnector You just mentioned apple, which means you are not understanding my point. These companies mentioned all rely on core audio in some form when dealing with apple products. In short, they really don't need to worry about the (and no pun here) core aspects of handling digital audio on the system. Unfortunately apple is not the only company making computers (not to mention legacy apple hardware). RME has objectively the most stable drivers on windows of the companies I mentioned. They also support hardware from literally 20 years ago. You can also find third party, objective test of conversation. There is very little difference at this level. In fact, given the objective test, it's not crazy to form the (subjective) opinion that a company like UA is charging a premium for access to their software. Many of them are sourcing their converters from the same manufacturers anyways.
