"Now that I’m wise I realize that all I did was hide / Long as they starin' at that chain / They won' look inside my eyes and see the pain See the hurt, see the person I disguise / Can't write about it all if there's no words that could describe / The images in my head that visit me in my bed If I ain't talk to the Lord, man, spiritually I be dead" - Joell Ortiz

This track has a nostalgia feel to it even though its not that old. It makes you think about the highs and lows in your life, close people who are no longer here, and times we took for granted. But through the grace of God we have been blessed through all these times.

Apollo Brown could easily be the best in the game right now. I personally think trap beats don't have shit on his stuff in terms of both skill and overall sound quality, he's as good as Madlib.

@mrsoshadabaadman4 жыл бұрын
What people don't get is that most of the hipsters like trap ironically so its disposable songs have a 6 week lifespan. But music like this has time to mature and grow on sincere music lovers and new heads looking for more than what's in the mainstream. True the bookings and venues might be smaller but overseas they stand on the same stages as lil whomever.

I spent years trying to get my peers and people in my life to listen and appreciate hip hop instead of what’s played on the airwaves. Through the years I found it’s better to keep gems like this and artists like Joel and producers like Apollo close to the hip. The casual fans who don’t have the appreciation can’t offer anything to this art other than negatively effecting it and watering it down.
@aprillowman81663 ай бұрын
I feel you,, Metal face😉. Apparently youre a MF DOOM fan. It takes a special 👁 and ear for this ish. Absolutely needs time to brew. This type music is leaked into cyberspace before it's tweaked 😂. I would know. Im part of the creation! ✌🏾

I feel like I was literally waiting for yeeeears to see Joel making this album! Of course Apollo did a great job also! The beats just fits perfect and it’s a real blessing to see both artist shine on that project! I bought it, gave it many listenings already and there’ll be more. It’s a CLASSIC. Thank you for this piece of art. Hip-hop nowadays miss a lot of lirycism and (I love the punchline side of mc’ing, which sometimes makes me laugh to death but..) it’s really valuable to listen Joel’s stories about his life, struggles etc. It feels reeeeaally REAL and touches deeply. Great job, brothers! Believe me, there’s a lot of people all around the world, who appretiate your work. Greetings from Poland. Yaowa!!
