I find this song particularly beautiful because it is so steeped in mythology, but admittedly Ghost Mountain had to have known fans of Haunted Mound would dig deeper into the lyrics than normal with this being his return. It is a song comparing himself to Apollo(n), being a god of art, music, and a supreme archer. But it is also undeniably a song about renouncing something and returning to it, whether that be a place, name, or position. Ghost’s verses were always super steeped in mythology and cryptic stuff, so I dig it.

It’s mainly about Apollo as he references the battle between Apollo and Marsyas (the satyr) which was a battle of music and marsyas was flayed alive. He also mentions the seven which is a reference to the prophecy of the seven which Apollo was accused of starting. Nice reaction bro👍🏻

I'm pretty bad at music interpretation, but to me “Cut off my wings by the break of dawn” kind of sounds like he's referring to him losing freedom, maybe by coming back to making music? If we look at it from his POV, leaving because he wanted to focus more on his life, we can kind of infer that he might have felt trapped by being a full-time musician. I'm not sure what the “break of dawn” part means, though. Maybe that he feels like it's time to come back because of the increased hype around HM recently (i.e., a figurative “new day” for the group), as he came back only a few days after Buck and Hackle announced their album and tour. Curious to hear what people might think of this, cause I'm trying to get better at lyrical analysis.

@@papasquat08 after thinking about it more i think that depending on how it's interpreted, the "sang the song now it's said and done" line might support my first comment. personally, i see it as him saying that he'll forever be known as ghost mountain (maybe tying into the crazed fans that post old photos of him as a kid online? who knows) and thus by returning to HM he's going back to his old life of being a personality rather than a person with the freedom to do things without being scrutinized

yeah 1:58 Ghost Mountain was in film school actually. it pretty well explains why the Wendigo music video (as @licoricelaces4205 mentioned) and also the Apollon music video, are considered to be some of the best that we've seen from HM. i would also like to point out that the wendigo and apollon music videos are reminiscent of sematary's older videos like skin mask 2 and red mist
