Apologetics and Evangelism

"Is it a defense of biblical truth and refutation of error? Is it the presentation of evidence and reason used to win an argument? Or is it an exercise aimed at persuasion? Are our conversation partners atheists, agnostics, or adherents of other religions? Where should we start, how should we proceed, and what are we trying to accomplish in the end?
Christians are called to commend the faith, to "give a reason for the hope" that is within us (1 Peter 3:15). By studying the discipline of apologetics, we can better understand the competing worldviews of our pluralistic society and learn how to employ various methods in order to not only defend the faith, but to speak the truth in love to a world that needs the salvation found only in Jesus Christ."
