Those were great stories. I could listen to a lot more. Cades Cove is my favorite place in the Smoky Mountains. I’ve seen the usual sights several times and they don’t get old. The last time I was there was right after the wildfires down Gatlinburg way. I got some great photos in the Cove of several deer; 1 was a large buck that walked all the way across a huge field and would watch me. It was a field on the western end I think, next to a rest area. The field was east of the parking area. I went chasing after him while my wife went somewhere. And there was a fence between me and him. I got a good show and the he ran north, jumped the road and joined up with a doe I hadn’t seen. Beautiful animal in a beautiful place. You know the field I’m talking about. Thank you again for more stories from salt of the earth people!

Mr McCaulley! Mr Laws! Thank You Gen'leMen, for sharing some stories of the Lives of the Mountain Folk in Your Family 'Trees'. I like the practical knowledge that is passed along..., like the medicinal use of a coal tar poultice to draw out Snake venom. Yet what's especially enJoyable..., is the hint of the "Ol' Tricksters" of years gone by..., the "tall tale Tellers" Who been known to swaller Grasshoppers back'ards, and have more'n half a dozen Snakeheads a clingin' to Their fuzzy Sheep-skin chaps... Thanks to You Both..., memories of Your Ancestors are aLive in We Your Listener's hearts, just as Those Folk are aLive in You. Donnie, this is yet another great video from you. The photo of James McCauley caught my eye. He's standing there with a cavalry saber and a revolver. I can't see the photo very well but it looks like the revolver has a top strap, I'm guessing it is a Remington or maybe a Whitney. Sometimes back in those days, people posed with stuff like that, so the revolver and saber may not have even been his. I don't know if anyone else would be interested, but I would really like to hear John's story about how the war effected people in the Cove. David

Thank you for still doing these videos. I’m a native Missouri boy but my family traces to Green county Tennessee in the early 1800’s. These videos are a treat to my work week. God bless.

Mr. Donnie, once again thank you for your hard work bringing these stories to the public. This is so important to preserving Tennessee history and of course all of Appalachia. I would die to see the letter granting permission to hunt and fish on the Cherokee land.

I love parking my camper down in Townsend during the off-season or through the week and driving into Cades Cove early in the morning or before sun-set and just waiting and watching all the deer, bear, turkey, and critters come out and go about their business. It's an amazing place and I hope they preserve it for a long long time to come.
