This was great I had to rewatch as fell asleep or passed out like thirty minutes into it hehe. I can't believe he finally got that arm healed after wearing cast for decades. Its like everytime he was ready to get it off it would break again. JYD or Mr T or anybody that could get around to him. I was thinking he must be like hundred years old. Shane wrestled him too I think he mentions in start of this haha. Really odd how some people seem like Vampires who never age while others are gone in blink of an eye. I'm not sure I have a favorite moment of him in history. He sure fit with Piper if nothing else right ;).

I really enjoy all these casual talks about wrestling. My fav was the Valiant segment ,but all are good. I wouldn't call it a shoot ,it's like two guys laughing about old times at the local pub. Saw Orton wrestle many times at the Wwf TV tapings. I was lucky to live close.

I have been watching some old 1983 Spectrum cards off Bob in WWF and he was awesome . I cannot figure out why I never gravitated towards his matches as a kid . His matches were better than Pipers . And he was stronger than I remembered , natural strength because he was not a very buff guy . Kind of lanky really but he would toss guys around easily . His selling was completely legitimate looking .

I have been looking up everything I could on him since . I saw him in a match vs Terry Funk . I co sistently put Funk in my top 2 . I was not sure after wat hing that match who was better . He was that good . The only thing I can think of that could have kept him out of contention for the NWA World title was that shitfest he got involved in over the Knoxville territory with Bob Roop and Ron Garvin and that Plan B video . I think promoters soured on him for that . Its the only thing I can see . I do not think Harley Race is any better than Bob Orton Jr but I do think Bob is head above Ric Flair and Ted Dibiase both of whom were the front runners to replace Harley . Bob was everything an NWA champion was supposed to be . One bad choice is probably what killed that .

Bob Orton Jr. was one of the best in ring workers ever, him and Piper together were legendary.

It was far more common for wrestlers to die young from automobile wrecks in the 70s and 80s . The drugs came into wrestling after the big boom of the mid 80s and it bled into the 90s .

I can remember reading about Michel Martel dying of a heart attack in Puerto Rico and Moondog Mayne dieing in a car wreck .Eric the Red got hit by a car crossing the street .

Vince doesn't want 40 year olds anymore . Its just a handful he has around but you can expect that he is pushing them down the card soon . He has them part time instead of working long angles with young guys in the ope ing matches .
