My mom made this for my sister's and I growing up. Just made some 2 weeks ago. Absolutely love fried mush with butter and syrup I even like it with fried eggs. I'm 80 now so I have made it all my life.

Awesome! Did you let your mush cool before covering for the frig? Thanks, have enjoyed many of your recipes!

I did let it cool first. Thank you so much for watching our videos. We do appreciate you!❤️

@@karenthompson9851 saw your post so I thought I would tell you. Make the much let it cool until cold then cover with plastic wrap or foil. Put in fridge over night. Take out slice about 1/2 " thick and fry in little oil or lard brown on both sides. I put butter on it and Maple syrup or what ever you like. I fry mine in butter but I dust it with flour on both sides and brown. But with butter you have to make sure your heat is not to high or butter will start to burn before you get it brown.i also use little oil and add a little butter to it. Hope you like it.

My mother -in- law always made a version of this that my husband loves ...But she called it "brown meal mush"...She would take cornmeal, and put it in a iron skillet,or on a sheet pan in the oven, and let it brown...Then she would take it, and fix it, just like grits,or oatmeal, and they'd put butter, and sugar in it...

My grandma made this for my sister and I a lot when we would spend the night. We would make a bowl while the mush was hot and add butter and sugar or syrup. My grandma would refrigerate the left over and slice it thin and fry it crispy. Sometimes I would put syrup in it, but I liked it most with salt. Love mush!!

I watched another person’s video a few weeks ago on making fried mush. This must be one of those recipes that you had to grow up eating. I had never heard of it before, but I did make it and I tried it. Also must be an acquired taste too. My family wouldn’t touch it, but I tried to eat it with butter and pancake syrup and a different day with eggs. Nope. I love cornbread, but did not care for mush at all. I threw the rest away. Sorry.
