Respect! Love the simplicity and back to basics old school car camping. I love that you get out there with plastic totes, bare bones sleeping setup, and a homemade stove in a great old truck rather than an expensive overlanding rig with high end camping gear and an expensive rooftop tent. Plus you came to my part of the country that I love so much. THIS is what it’s all about. Subscribed and looking forward to more videos!

Canada here... trucks lookin good, solid n nice ride height...good you walk a bit before driving unknown terrain...awesome fire box, thumbs up!, yup, if energy is good, trust your locals...same as I, temp dropped one night in...need small heater on trickle charge! Or, run that small stove in there with stack out hole in roof(lol)...With your bed, I would dismantle 2 skids for wood, already sized to your truck lol and make a bed /storage. Keep ya off cold truck bed, air moving under you, moisture not trapped...4 legs and cross pieces will give you a mini loft above you, full or half length... radio/iPad mini shelf...box for jack and sr5 specific tools, as I have, get a length of chain, make yourself tire chains for rear, if 4x4 goes, chain up rear tires n your still moving on rough terrain... xtra front n back and a winch, any winch will do in pinch (Walmart...FB marketplace?)... roof rack, make your own, side awning or tarp that rolls out n supported by 2 legs...insulation, lots of diff kinds...gunrack? Antlers on hood lol... tech side...solar panel, radio/wifi antenna , drone storage? Drone video relay to cab? Etc...think big estii lol(French Canadian joke-see movie Elvis gratton from Quebec)... get in habit of cleaning suspension after trips, stuff gets in and fouls up joints, pads n calipers etc... have exact set of tools w truck to tighten everything... whew, lol...that's nuff for now...same as the lude...lube everything, minimize rust, if any...keep turning that wrench... one love

Nice set-up. I bought a high top camper for my 03 taco for 100.00, best investment I've ever made. Only thing is I've got to paint it white to match the truck, because somebody painted it black. It leaks around some of the windows, but I'm working on it. I camp in this thing all the time. I have a recommendation for you. Get yourself a memory foam mattress, it serves 2 purposes, keeps you warm on cold nights, and it's super comfy. Hope this helps you out.

So beautiful and great to watch. I love seeing you in your element...you look happy. I only covered my eyes when you followed a stranger deep into the woods. I am sure I covered that with you over the years. 😜♥️ Mom ps. Graham said he didn't know the Tacoma came with a work bench.😊

That’s a beautiful part of this country. Growing up in Florida my family would vacation in that part of Tennessee and the western area of NC along the Appalachian mtns quite often. I have also spent a week hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail around there with my father, brother, uncle and cousin. You have the perfect truck for doing this type of exploring around there! Hope you don’t give up on the Lude…even if it means finding another one, they are special cars!

Conner Lee, I have been meaning to ask you about your cab preference. I, too, want to get an 'extended cab' 1st gen Tacoma. I prefer the standard transmission as well and the 4x4. I did have a '97 base (4 cylinder) 4Runner with auto trans and 4wd and I loved it. How do you like having an extended cab versus a 4 door versus a standard cab? I can see that the bed is long enough for us tall folk. I have been searching for extended cabs for the 1st gen and possibly the 2nd gen as well, but I want the transfer case lever on the 1st gen. I have not seen a 2nd gen Tacoma with a transfer case lever. They all have dials to rotate instead and I don't like that.

I love the ext cab. If I had the full 4doors, I could tell you nobody would ever sit back there and it would remove valuable space from the camper setup in the back. Definitely love stick shift and non dial 4x4 stick. I wish you all the luck in your build brotha!
