My son's troop is preparing for a backpacking trip at Mammoth Cave National Park ( and I will be starting my thru hike later this year) and tonight some of the older scouts will be demonstrating some of the gear. Saw a few of those AT emblems on people's packs, what are they for?

When you register your thru hike with the ATC they will send you an emblem to wear on your pack. It has the year of your hike and each year it’s a different color. It was blue in 2016, the year I did my thru hike.
