Cool to hear about you applying for the police. I recently trained a friend of mine for a Police Initial Strength Test (Requirements: 1.5 miles in 14:55, 25 pushups in 1 minute, 35 sit-ups in 1 minute and a 165lb dummy drag). She is 36 years old and has never done anything dealing with physical fitness. Long story short, we trained for 3 months. She killed the test! Running 1.5 miles in 13:10, doing 25 pushups in 45 seconds, 35 sit-ups in 50 seconds and slaying the dummy drag. She did better than half the males applying. She did awesome. Of course she had a pretty good trainer too! 😉😉 Good luck to you Roadrunner. You got this! I love breaking trail in snow. 🌨❄☃

You definitely still "got it." You have great instincts, compassion, morals and communication skills. I still recall those fireside conversations at Boots Off. I am glad you are pursuing the practical aspect of your CJ degree. I am 65 and have not had alcohol in 45 years... never regretted it.... doesn't make good sense to swallow what kills all bacteria. Praying for you young lady!!

Best of luck in your pursuit of potential police opportunities. I must share that in my later 30s I too passed my physical, written and oral tests for a police job in Colorado in the early 1980s. They said I was on top of the list in all scores, then only had to do the polygraph. I did it up to the point (remember this is the early 80s) when they asked if I ever went to a gay bar!? I answered yes, then the tester delved into the questions of my sexuality. I answered truthfully, yes to the question 'are you a lesbian.' The guy gave me a scolding look and stopped asking me any other questions. I was done in more ways than one. He cut the test short. I was devastated. But that was then... I am now 73 and today you made me think back on that prejudice toward me. But again, it was the times, I hope departments throughout our land has changed for the better. I think they have. Not saying you're gay at all, it's just that your announcement triggered that memory. All the best from a former hiker.

Nice hike! That's great to hear you've got some interesting employment opportunities. I am sure you will find a good strategy for negotiating your terms of employment so you can hike as you wish. Who knows, maybe you'll develop a program on hiking out the difficulties some LEO experience. Happy New Year!

Sounds you have a great job opportunity. Let’s see, you have done Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail. That’s two of the big ones. At 40, you have accomplished many things. You are bright, smart, levelheaded and lovely lady. You will make a great law enforcement officer. Hope you seriously consider it. Maybe a wildlife officer might fit you since you love the outdoors. I am 66 and if I could do it all again, I might like being a FWC officer, since I live in Florida. Anyway you still can hike on your off time. I love your videos. Keep on rockin, Miss Roadrunner

I recommend jumping off, as you said, but then heading over the JMT, w/o crazy snow. If not this year, do it some year. The CA Sierra should also be experienced minus snow.

7:12 I don't know either. Cops work long hours and only get about 2 weeks of vacation. Why not just work for Amazon for a few months to earn money for the next thru hike?

Amazing news, Juliane! It sounds like opportunity is knocking! 🚪✨ This is a fantastic dilemma to have - a dream hike AND a dream job offer! Don't feel pressured to decide immediately. Explore all your options, weigh the pros and cons, and trust your gut feeling. Could you potentially discuss delaying the start date with the company? Many employers are understanding of personal priorities. No matter what you choose, remember this is a testament to your hard work and the amazing things you're capable of! ✨ #GoYou

I was 45 when I went to the police academy. You’ve got this..! I made them all sweat, too. There were kids who could run faster than me. There were kids who could run farther than me. There were kids that could do more pushups than I could. There were kids who could do more pullups than I could. There were kids who could bench more weight than I could. There were kids that could squat more weight than I could. But none of them could do two… “Gramps” (yeah, that was my academy nickname) made them young pups sweat..!

Juliane, hi. Fancy meeting you here. Good to see you out on the trail. That extra weight will come off when you get on the trail, if not before. Congrats on your success with the police tests. Will keep you in prayer on that. Things will work as they are supposed to. Beautiful scenery with all that snow. We are covered here. And supposed to get a little more tonight and tomorrow. Ugh. I'm already over it. Take care. Stay safe. See you next time.
