YAY for you...following you through to the end. Best of luck...I'm in Maine and at 80+ my hiking days are over. Love your videos of the wild places and friendly faces and the dogs and trees and mountain views...memories. Never got to the AT but did the Adirondacks up and down and all around!

Standing Indian Mountain views were my favorites south of the Smokies! I just loved that walk down the narrow ridge with beautiful views everywhere! You are doing great!

I'm a 38 year old dude living vicariously through you, really enjoying watching your journey. Never been able to hike any of the AT. I'm from NC and just wanted to let you know we pronounce Nantahala as nan-tuh-hay-luh. In fact I was just recently in Bryson City where you'll be soon when you get back on trail, and the Nantahala Outdoor Center is an awesome place, and the River's End restaurant was delicious....I loved my "Sherpa rice" with tempeh...so hearty! Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next video when your knee is good to go!

The transition from sleeping bag to hiking clothes is the hardest. It was always easiest for me when in the tent (as opposed to shelter). The tent did a good job of retaining some heat.

How are you liking staying in the shelters? Hopefully we can keep building them on the ALT.
@wolfiehikes10 күн бұрын
I think the ALT has done a great job at picking the locations of the shelters so far. In the First 105 miles of the AT, I have stayed in 6 shelters. 4 of those have been in locations not really protected from the wind by the natural terrain. They had great views, but with the cold temps I would have sacrificed the views. I am going back to my tent until it begin to warm up more.

Hope your knee is doing better. Do you have trekking poles? I find them very helpful, but then, I’m an absolute klutz… 🤷🏻♀️

Do you just put the two tablets in the water you capture, no filtering? Or both? 10:53
@wolfiehikes10 күн бұрын
2 of the purifying tablets per liter of water for at least 30 min, then the neutralizing tablet for a little over 5 min. No filtering need as long as you do not stir things up. It has been to cold to put my filter at risk.

Doing 12 miles, would that be 6 hours hiking.
@wolfiehikes13 күн бұрын
On a flat trail it would be. But the steep climbs slow the pace and later in the day it they slow a person down even more.

Sun is a wonderful source of heat!! But it begs the question. Why should you stand in the corner if you get cold? Because it's always 90° ! 🫣
