CONGRATULATIONS Greyhound!!!! What a great accomplishment. One of the best vidieos I have seen of the AT. Beautiful scenery and in depth coverage of the trail good and bad. I will miss the pleasure of watching those videos every day, hearing your upbeat attitude and watching as you courageously tackled all obstacles as they helped me the last few months while I recovered from surgery. Good luck in your future endeavors and thank you again for sharing your amazing journey. Happy Trails!!!

First of all, thank you Greyhound for sharing your journey with us. I watched all your videos from the start. All your videos showed us what the trail is really like. A lot of other hiker's videos don't show the hard parts of the trail but you did. Greyhound you went with the good and the bad on your journey, but you fought against quitting, Greyhound you had an ''I'm doing this attitude'' the whole way. What I really enjoyed was that you showed the flowers, animals, waterfalls, and different types of fungi on the trail. One other thing that made my day was when you stuck with Old Buzzard and Possum, I think you helped them along the trail, especially in the Whites. Once again thank you Greyhound.

Thank you so much! Old Buzzard and Possum helped me too. I was so happy to have people there with me for the really difficult dangerous stuff. My family also felt better that I was hiking with someone. Plus we had a lot of fun and laughs.

Congratulations! What an accomplishment with so many challenges along the way but you kept pushing forward and kept getting stronger. An epic ending video for your epic journey! I've really enjoyed watching your journey . You've done a really great job of capturing so much, so many golden views (gold blazing) and doing so in a way that was very enjoyable to watch. It was great Bailout was able to be with you in the end to finish what you both started together. It's not easy to hike 2198.4 miles up and down mountains, video it, edit it, post the videos on a regular basis, but you did it all and you did it fabulously...so Thank you for everything you did and sharing it with the World! Congrats again!

Thank you for sharing your hike and experiences with us. I loved this video and seeing the past highlights as well as the many friends you made along the way. Seeing you hike and reach the summit was absolutely the best. I have smiled, laughed, cried, held my breath in fear for you, and prayed many prayers for your safety. I had no doubt that you would make it to the end of the trail. Love you!❤

Joann, through your videos I "hiked" with you and Chunky on the Palmetto Trail and the Foothills Trail, but your journey on the AT was awesome! I followed you everyday from the day you announced your plan to thru hike the AT until you summited Katahdin! Yes, I even shed tears of joy right along with you as you embraced that marker at the top of the mountain. Your videos, pictures and narration were fantastic! I had to do some catching up on the last seven videos. My son and I took seven days and did a section hike from Hot Springs to Erwin TN. We spent two days/nights on the trail with a man who is a paramedic and does search and rescue at Baxter State Park and Katahdin. Some of the stories he told were unbelievable! We also paid a visit with the Southern Cookie Lady! She had wonderful black walnut banana cookies and since it was Oct she was doing trick or treat! She said she already had visitors wearing the same type costumes that we had on!🤣We got to take a piece of candy AND she gave us another shortbread cookie decorated like a pumpkin! Please do a video on your decent of Katahdin. There were sections going up that looked hard, would love to see how you did going down. I am a little confused. Earlier in the comments you said you summited on Oct 22. As I write this it is Oct 15! Thank you Greyhound for wonderful memories of your thru hike of the Appalachian Trail!
@hikingmovie Жыл бұрын
Oops meant to write September 22nd was summit day. I edited it. Thanks! Sounds like you had a fun hike. Would have loved to hear some of the rescue stories. I bet he stays busy. There was a woman that had to be rescued the day we went up and two groups of three hikers got stuck up on top according to a ranger we talked to. That was just one day in Baxter. I did video coming down and will get it up soon along with some other hiking in the park.

Thank you! Yes that was part of my fear going up cliffs on the entire trail. I knew there would be more cliffs on the other side of the mountain going down that would be worse. Coming down Katahdin, the Saddle Trail, was steep loose rock but no cliffs, so chose that route down.

@@hikingmoviethis is Sherry. I watched all 193 Hiking Movies this summer and shared some with our grandkids. It took a little longer to read all of the comments and to comment a little here and there. This year we've hiked 10 more miles in Shenandoah National Park, most of the Benton Mackaye Trail here in Georgia, and added a few more miles in GSMNP. We did not get to Max Patch this year because of that pesky Hurricane Helene, but maybe next year. We did a little of the Palmetto Trail at the beginning of the year (near Croft State Park) and near Spartanburg as we were coming back to Georgia from NC or Virginia (we have family there). We have plans to hopefully finish the BMT here in Georgia next year (or whatever we can reasonably do) hike a little more of the AT here in Georgia that we're missing and hopefully do some of the Pinhoti Trail, maybe even some in Alabama. We're getting older and can't do what we used to be able to do, but we can do some! Thanks for your inspiration!

Thanks for showing us what a positive mental attitude can overcome on trail. I’m convinced it’s more important than the physical….although that’s necessary too! (Hello, New Hampshire!) Way to go. Your videos were inspiring and beautiful!

Thank you so much! Good luck on your section hike. 1/3 of the trail is a lot of miles! Congrats! It is mostly a mental game. By the end, everyone was so tired, we all were injured, in pain and just wanted to be done. Most of the trail I really enjoyed and wanted to be there though. NH and ME were the challenges. Maine got better and I did enjoy the last half a lot. Will probably see you out on the trail. I do hike in Paris Mountain often. I will probably hike the Palmetto Trail again soon too. 390 miles doesn’t seem that far now 😆

I’ve hiked all of the FHT and some of the Palmetto Trail…but just locally in the Upstate. My husband and I jumped up to NH this summer and did the Presis. It was at the end of June when, you guessed it, we had a week of rain. No views at all on Franconia. After we got home we seriously questioned whether we could do the end of the trail if it was like that. But now I’m glad we did that section so we are better prepared. Yikers! I really cannot imagine doing it say after day after day. He retires at the end of next year, so who knows what we will eventually finish…but it’s been a lot of fun so far. Kudos to you!!!

You went so slow in the beginning I never thought you’d make it before the weather turned. Congrats!

Thank you. Worried about that too but I started really early to give myself plenty of time.

First of all bless you and also bailout. You made cry a little when you cried at the top when you were leaning on the sign . Thanks for giving us hope to carry on, no matter what the trail is. Anyway thank you so much for recording your journey. Bless you.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful story on the AP Trail. Such awesome memories you will have forever. Congratulations!! I did tear up when you were standing on top of that last mountain but they were tears of joy and pride for you. God bless and keep you in His care. Will there be another epic trail lurking in the background? Please take care and enjoy a well deserved rest.

Thank you. I rested at home for about two weeks. Headed out for a hike with my dog tomorrow. He has really missed hiking while I was gone. I will be hiking the Palmetto Trail and the Foothills Trail again soon since they are close. I want to keep my trail legs.

Thank you so much! You have been so supportive with all your comments all along this journey. It really makes a difference on the hard days when I knew there were people wanting me to finish the trail. Last winter I watched Aquaman hike the trail - a winter hike. That was terrifying to watch because of the weather and extreme stuff he went through. I was really invested in his hike and so many others last year that I followed like Tonya and Stan. I totally get it. I was so excited for them, but sad that the journey was over. Sending love back.

@@hikingmovie omg I also followed Aquaman on his winter hike! (Crazy!) and many others and also this year I followed a couple but you know that sometimes you connect with some hikers more than others and for me this year my connection was with you; at first I decided to follow your journey because it was different to all the other hikers I followed before (2 friends and a dog) but ended up being just you but I couldn’t abandon you lol i was checking my phone everyday waiting for you to post a video! I just found you very honest and real about your fears on trail but at the same time you were always with a positive attitude even when you wanted to cry. Thank you again for sharing your journey in such an honest and raw way. I also love Linda, she was great! Let her know :)

@@hikingmovie oh and one more thing, thank your for always replying to my comments or giving them like! It meant the world to me to know that you were reading them even when you were so tired after a long day of mud and rain 🥰

Congratulations on a job well done. I admire your courage and strength for doing so much of it alone and especially with the weather challenges and being sick. I absolutely loved your photography. You have a creative eye for catching things. I thoroughly enjoyed your journey from beginning to end and I think you must be the kind of person everyone would enjoy as a friend. May your life continue to be blessed.

Thank you so much! I love photography and took some classes in high school and college. It has always been a hobby and I did some professionally off and on.

@@hikingmovie Once you’ve been home a couple months and everything has settled well, you should do another video about your takeaways from your journey. Maybe a mid-winter installment when we are all pining away to be out hiking again :)

I will continue hiking and doing some videos. Planning to do a video of us coming down from katahdin and hiking around the park after. Maybe a gear video if there is interest

Congratulations Joanne! This finale was truly emotional. I have enjoyed keeping up with your journey. You are a strong woman! Hope to run in to you around Greenville in the near future. What's your next adventure?

Tomorrow! Just a short hike with my dog and a friend but hopefully it will be an adventure. Will probably do the Foothills Trail and the Palmetto Trail again soon too and plenty of day hikes. I want to get out and see the Fall colors. Thanks for watching! Wonder if there would be interest in a meetup hike for people in our area? That could be fun.

You should plan something. I'm sure there would be many people in our area who would come. Not me though. I'm awaiting knee replacement surgery which won't take place until May. My doctor is booked up until then. Can't wait to get back out and at least do my two mile walks again. Enjoy sleepng in your nice comfortable bed for a while.@@hikingmovie

We met you on the way down on the Saddle Trail that day. I enjoyed watching the video. Just wondering how you guys got around the no dogs in the Baxter rule?
@hikingmovie Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Were you the lady that got hurt? If so, hope you are healed up. Tonya’s dog Zoby is actually a service dog which are the only dogs allowed in the park.

No, I think you were referring to Donna who fell and cut her elbow. Donna and her friend were around us most of the day. I met you with my friend Frank. We got up to the top of the slide and turned back since we reached our turn around time. I think I asked you like three times what the name of your you tube channel is. I remembered "hikingmovie, one word". Congratulations on your through hike. Loved the video.

Really nice finale! I love the way you recapped the whole trail just before the final push to the sign. Excellent job of editing and, of course, congratulations on finishing the trail!
