Most of these farmers make money selling seedlings not fruits. That’s why the hype is so much about the money made so that you can buy seedlings to plant. Think about where you’re going to sell your apples first. Also remember that apples do very well in the temperate climate, so the European export market is exaggerated.
@michaelgithu46742 жыл бұрын
But apple is very few in kenya so it can sold locally.

Temperature plays a role in apples growing. These apples that she is talking about grow in the highlands of Kenya normally above 1500 meters above sea level where temperatures do not go beyond 85 F and during June temperature can go as low as 50 F even though rainfall is not that much (semi-arid). So, you can imagine how cold it can get compared to humid and hot areas in many African countries.

Technically they call it chilling requirement of about 500 to 600 hours for most varieties. May be this variety needs less, I don't know. Maybe it does not need chilling requirement at all, I don't know. I would appreciate if somebody could direct me to scientific paper, if any, on this variety. On a similar note, the highlands of Kenya could possibly be favorable for apple trees because temperature could go as low as 5 to 10 C during winter.
