Friend from University hitch-hiked from Jo Berg to Cairo when she was 12. Went through two war zones. I 6ft 2 and did weights at university and wouldnt have risked it when i was 20.

South Korea is insane on education (high school prep for it is exhausting). A lot of Asian countries seem to have a very competitive nature. These stories are based there.

she's going on about her education but she majored in Spanish and had to repeat and she never got an A and blames unfair marking. I wonder if she has a job. local supermarket, so she has a non useful degree , crappy marks or both

@@catsncrows My Japanese friend's daughter refused to do all that. Never took the entrance examinations, never went to college. Her parents were appalled. She's doing fine. Has a job, and wonderful husband. She said no to the system. They can, you know.

@@catsncrows What you don't seem to understand is a good many Japanese don't pass the college entrance exams. Reiko just didn't want to go through it. She's had a good life without going through all that. She's in her 40s now, happy with her husband. She had a modeling career. I forget where she's working now. Raised in Kumamoto prefecture, she lives just outside Tokyo. Wasn't bad for her.

Has the author never head of book stores and libraries? Plenty of autodidacts have excellent educations. Yes, formal education provides structure and is the best route to an education for most people, but some do fine without it. No truly educated person confuses education with university attendance.

I did not like this story. It was OK until she was in the taxi and is being kidnapped. She doesn’t try to escape but calls somebody who’s boarding a plane? Help we just drove past the airport. We’re going to a deserted street. I don’t know what to do“. … ummm, really? She doesn’t know what to do? I would’ve had the local police written down somewhere. I would’ve been screaming! Yelling! Something! Not just sitting there, wringing my hands and being helpless.
