It’s a mix. Apple have created a bunch of small AI models that run on the AI-focused chips in Apple products and a medium-sized model that the iPhone can call in the cloud when it needs help. They only work with OpenAI for large model because it works better than Google Gemini and people already familiar with ChatGPT.

Great channel! Can you confirm that chat gpt requests go out to the Apple private computer ‘cloud’ so open ai doesn’t know it was you that sent the request. …also what happens to that request from people with monthly subscriptions to open ai…are their requests private now too? I’m thinking that APC works like hide my email on Apple mail but not sure.

You'll be able to have your AI write a message and send it to someone else's iPhone, so their AI can read it and give them the key points. "I'll have my people talk to your people" will be the way of things.

Private cloud compute is also a LLM. So if Siri on someone device can’t answer a request then it goes to private cloud compute and if it’s too complicated for Siri then one can go to OpenAI GPT4o only after given it permission; if no permission is given that means no data gets sent. Privacy to the Max.

My problem with the email rewrite features from all vendors is that they rewrite the actual message. I like to see the original next to the proposed one and highlight what changed and why. That is why I don’t use M365 copilot in outlook but I copy and paste it into copilot for web and then paste it back in.

No constant screenshots needed. If you consented/dident opt out of the various data collection systems, apple has all the personal data they need to do this already. Still a bit scary to feed so much sensitive data to language models that still fall for social engineering tricks, but at least you dont have your passwords and private browsing floating around the context window. I wonder if it will keep the same access to all apple health data like current siri does, could be problematic.

It matters whoever can get there. Assistant working smoothly across different applications on the phone first. Whether it's ample, Siri, or androids chat by. I believe chatboned will make leaps and bounds blowing. Siri, out of the water Siri, is constrained by apple and apple is a company focused on many things, not just AI making sure their portfolio stays clump. Open AI, on the other hand has only one focus and it shows in their. work.

As a Midjourney power user I laughed when they said “three image styles” all three of which seem to have a kind of glossy corporate blandness about them that seems really limiting. Hopefully I’ll be able to integrate MJ into this stuff to get really creative images when I need them because it otherwise looks quite cool.

I think it’s smart tbh, they’re directly pulling context from your contacts. Creating hyper realistic images based on peoples photos would very quickly become a problem. It’s best for them, at the size of a corporation they are, to steer clear until they build out safeguards.

I don't trust their "privacy" of data as it's transmitted to OpenAI. First time I'm not trusting Apple. Imagine *everything* you potentially request (photos, email, some actions, etc.) being logged by OpenAI / Microsoft.

​@HansJoachimMaier when companies employ device fingerprinting, they usually don't transmit data. They analyze identifiers of the device to tie info to your persona. That's how annonymized data in Google Ads still can be traced back to individuals. You only need a accurate fingerprint of a user/device and you can follow it everywhere.
