Apple iPhone 6s and Newer Display Adhesive Application- How To

If you're replacing the screen in your iPhone 6S or newer you'll need to also replace the adhesive in order to maintain your water resistance. Today we'll walk you through the process of replacing the display adhesive on your iPhone.

I got water in my phone and had a lot of accumulation on the front and back cameras. After cleaning out the water I sealed the phone and never thought about the adhesive, until a little black spot appeared on the bottom of my screen after a rainy day. This video was really helpful in guiding me on re sealing my phone! definitely keeping my phone away from water! Thank you!

Do not consider the phone waterproof if you have replaced the screen. Replacement screen or earpiece speaker may not be waterproof. This guide usually suits better if you are replacing internal components like the battery or the camera and would like to reseal the phone like new.

Neat, I didn't know you could restore water resistance after taking the device apart on your own. Can you do this with other water-resistant gadgets or is the iPhone's method of water resistance abnormal?

it will not stop the screen sticking out, the reason is sticks out is cheaper/aftermarket screens are thicker than the originals. i guess it will hold it in place better than nothing!

No iPhone ist Water Resistant (IP68) ! They are only IP67 Certified (Spashproof). All 2017 Phones from Samsun got IP68 Certifikation ! Once opend this is gone....

If you're good enough you can preserve the original adhesive. Whether or not it's as effective as replacing it with a new one is a different story.

The 6S isn't officially water resistant, but the adhesive under the screen is present on it.

Edward James Bickels the 6S added force touch, which depends on a different kind of screen adhesive to accurately work. The 6 has no adhesive whatsoever, the screen just clips in. iPhone 7 and newer are water resistant.

"Water resistance" is a relative term though. If you mean it doesn't have an official IP rating, then you're right. That doesn't mean there aren't water-resistance measures in its design though, such as the gaskets around buttons and the display assembly adhesive.

IFixit adhesive strip TOTAL JUNK .. won’t stick to phone .. you can’t separate the center plastic like the video shows and you can’t pull plastic/Mylar away with the adhesive staying on the phone ....
