I could live with that! Specially if it would still charge from a lightning connector and could be charged while using (unlike the Magic Mouse 2 hahahaha). Besides 2 days of battery life, that is 48 hours of continuous use, would translate to about 5 days of sporadic use. I see no problem with that :)

6 years after this review i bought it. At this time there is a more modern version with TouchID, but it costs a bit more. The laptop has TouchID key so i don't really need it on this keyboard. I just LOOOVE the feel of typing on this thing. If you like "chiclet-style" keyboards then you should love this. Even just resting my fingers on the keys and not typing feels nice. It feels like I'm typing on expensive ivory rather than plastic. :) I initially bought this from Amazon Renewed but it had a 'sticky/mushy' command key. I ended up returning it and getting it brand new just for peace of mind.

I still have a working Apple Aluminum keyboard with the usb ports that I have decided to use with my iMac until I decide if i want the new magic keyboard. I have the magic keyboard that came with the iMac and find it too small, and lack of numeric keypad not fully able to adjust to. The wired keyboard is rock solid and works well. Keeping the wired is appealing for the built in usb hub, makes it easier to connect the base of a wireless mouse.

It's not as angled as either the wired version or the smaller Bluetooth one and thus not quite as comfortable. I haven't yet decided whether to return it or not.

I ended up getting one. Definitely took some getting used to with it being so flat, but I guess it matches up with the new trackpad. The long battery life and wirelessness are nice at least

I enjoy that this magic numeric keyboard can be run with the USB cable attached in addition to wireless blue tooth if one so desires. Because when installing a fresh copy of macOS one needs a wired keyboard to select the install options. I don't know if one can pair with blue tooth before macOS is installed ? I have always needed a USB connected keyboard to navigate the install options and then when macOS is installed the option to sync the keyboard via bluetooth is there

My old wired USB keyboard with number pad stopped working this morning so I had to order a new keyboard, was going to get this but it was too expensive at $175AUD so I got the compact version for $139AUD. I will miss the extra USB ports (for USB sticks) and the number pad though.

Finally! If you recall, years ago Apple offered a wireless Bluetooth keyboard with a numeric keypad. Then, with a product refresh, they dropped the keypad. For years now (feels like a decade... could that be right?), if you wanted a keypad, you had to go wired. I can't believe they finally fixed this gap. I'd given up eons ago. Apple introduces products with such fanfare but takes products or key features away unceremoniously.

I'm gonna be honest, I'm more of a mechanical keyboard fan. But I got one of these in a bundle with my MacBook and I'm not sure how to feel about it. It certainly has some nice functions but not nearly as many as other keyboards available for the same price or less. I'm not a big fan of the 1mm key travel and 36 gram actuation force. That feels like almost nothing to me since I tend to have a heavy keystroke. Currently I use a Matias Laptop Pro bluetooth keyboard, but my dad uses this Magic Keyboard a lot since the low key travel is perfect for his arthritis.

Lightning is probably going nowhere soon however, but the other end will eventually be USB-C.

Lightning I can live with, but if all your new machines are coming out with USB-C it would make sense to at least include a USB-C cable in your products that are coming out after you start pushing the standard.

I know they do, but with them pushing it so much, I dont think it makes much sense to force customers to buy a cable that should have come with the accessory in the first place. It came out after apple began trying to push type c, therefore it should come with one so that those people that are buying the new machines, and want to use the accessory with it can. Lets be honest the cable cost next to nothing to produce, but apple will sell it for $30. Why not include a usb c and a cable in the box?

Using the magic track on the mouse position it doesn't make sense... you should keep the trackpad below the keyboard like you already do on the macbook, it's a more natural position

Well Im still using the old style keyboard (on my PC), its about 9 years old at this point and I am glad it still works. I do not like this new design (the flexing is insane old keyboard doesnt flex at all), and I like to have wired without worrying about internal battery. Looks like they dont make the old style anymore though so if this one breaks Ill have to look for alternatives. Its hooked up to a stationary Desktop and I do game quite a lot on it, so wireless is not needed for me at all. I just like how apple's keyboard feels and wish they made just a straight up wired variant still.

Apple Apple No, it wouldn't use that much charge as it is a small screen. Plus, it's is an OLDED which means that it won't take that much power. Even if it does, Apple can just make the keyboard thicker and fit in a bigger battery.

TheTechPerson The keyboard on a desk top the keyboard tends to be further from the screen since it's not leveled with the screen you would have to constantly look up and down while a laptop everything is attached the keyboard is leveled to the screen.The touch bar is just a gimmick anyway not a lot of apps support it and not a lot of people use it since it's more practical doing all on the screen rather than glancing up and down.

Juan Santizo Buy it with 8GB, buying RAM through Apple is very expensive. You can upgrade it very easy in the 27" iMac. If I buy one, I would definitely get 8GB. 8GB of RAM is about £60 ($80) on Amazon, so you could buy one or two of those, since the iMac has a place for four. It comes with two 4GB RAM sticks. So you can add a 8GB stick to the third slot to get 16GB, or if you really need more, i.e. you use lots of Apps, video or photo editing, get two 8GB sticks from Amazon and add them so youll have 24GB, which should be plenty. And when in the future programs need more, you can replace the two 4GB sticks with another two 8GB sticks, to go to 32GB, or maybe at that point even 16GB sticks are cheaper so you can put in 2x16GB with the 2x8GB and get 48GB. Basically get 8GB from Apple and just put more in as you need, if you need.

Miklós Kecskés That would probably have cut the battery life to less than half. It would be nice though if it was, so you could control the backlight brightness yourself to make a harmonious balance between the backlight and battery life. Let’s include an OLED Touch Bar while we’re on track!

Apple has told me that this Magic Keyboard with numeric keys ONLY works with Sierra on up. In other words 10.12. You can still use the new Magic Mouse without numeric keys with 10.11.
